We stayed at the beginning of September for 10 days and after reading the reviews leading up to our holiday we were apprehensive. The hotel is literally 10 minutes from Sharm airport and upon arrival we were warmly, there was an issue with our room not having the 3rd bed however this was quickly resolved and we were moved to a lovely room with a pool view. The only thing we would have liked were tea making facilities and they seem a bit apprehensive to give you more than one roll of toilet roll even if you only have a little bit left on the roll. Other than that the rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels and sheets alongside some fantastic towel art of swans, flowers and bows. The grounds and gardens were beautiful and the pool was perfect size, always clean, and we had no issue with getting our sun beds. We really enjoyed the music played and the 3 hour break during the day from all the activities the Exotic Treat team were doing. There are staff that come round and can be pushy in trying to sll you things such as massage packages, scuba and various themed evening dinners (which from speaking with others this was not worth the money as the food and drink is practically the same as in the general buffet restaurant).
The food at the hotel was pretty awful and by the end of it we were eating out most nights. The best selection seemed to be at breakfast, however at the start they had proper Lurpak butter yet changed to margarine half way through, upon asking for butter they tried to say the marg was butter but when I disputed this they kindly brought out Lurpak, which leads to question why they were hiding it out back?!?! Lunch was poor, the pool snacks bar was the same every day, chips that were fried and then refried to make them hot, beef and chicken sausages that were raw and beef koftas, these were the only nice snack. The ice cream was lovely, has the consistency of angel delight but delicious nonetheless. Dinner at the main buffet had a theme every night yet the options available were pretty much the same every time, there was definitely no lack of chicken or beef. Be aware of the fish as throughout the holiday it was raw. We went to the italian twice for dinner and once for lunch, all of which was really lovely and made a pleasant change to enjoy a meal and not be hungry afterwards, the waiter here was also lovely. There were a lot of Egyptians there and honestly you have never seen greed like it!!! They barge you out the way and we consistently saw them pile high plates of food and fill a massive table with it all, only to eat some and walk away or in some cases move to a different table and repeat the process!! There is also no air con in the restaurant making it pretty unbearable!
Drinks are also lacking, on the first day you get an ice cold beer from the pump however after that you are only allowed it from a bottle which is warm and tasteless. This was because it costs them less from a bottle. The spirits were awful, they all tasted the same and really not drinkable at all. I also do not think it was possible to get drunk on any of their own alcohol options it was that weak. The wine was nice at the beginning but by the end of the holiday it had an odd acidic twang. Their red wine was also freezing cold which was rather strange. Soft drinks are okay if you have it when they open the bottle if not you get luke warm flat drink, the juices are also very sugary. Cannot complain about the bottled water, there is no limit on how much you can have!!
You do not expect to go on an all inclusive holiday to then spend money on eating and drinking out because you have to. We spoke to many people all of whom agreed and for some it was their 5th or 9th time to this hotel and they were shocked at hown downhill it had gone.
Things to do places to go: Hard Rock Cafe is amazing, lovely food and drink, we got a discount voucher from our holiday rep which made it even better. Soho square is also lovely, it is hassle free which was fantastic. There is a great underground restaurant called Akuna Matata which is very cheap and delicious youorder what ever you want (mexican, fish & chips, Burger, italian, egypitian, chinese). You will also see the Queen Vic pub, I had a malibu here but I can assure you it was not actual Malibu!!! There is also a duty free shop, just remember to take your passport. McDonalds was had on the last night (first time ever on a holiday) it was nice also, huge portions at fraction of the price here. Union Jack bar is a little english bar where you can find a full english including proper sausages and bacon. The inside taxi service is really easy and very reliable, Smile was fantastic as was our regular taxi driver.
On advice we did the camel trek, bedouin dinner and star gazing package, we thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend to everyone. The camel ride is an experience in itself especially for the men :).
Overall we really did have a fantastic holiday, the hotel itself is lovely but it is the food and drink that really let it down for us. We would definitely return to Egypt, the weather is always perfect and hot all year round, unfortunately we just would not return to this hotel.
The pool view is the best option, it is central location and lovely view.
