“We never expected something this nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

We were booked here for one night as part of a tour. We wished we could have stayed longer. The place certainly makes you think you are staying in a rich uncle's hacienda. The grounds are well groomed. The rooms are spacious, well decorated in rustic style, and comfortable (although there is only a fireplace for heat). We ate dinner in their restaurant and it was nice. Since the location is not in town, other dinner options require a taxi ride. The rooms are all on one level with entry from outside grassy courtyards. This is scenic but the on site roosters do make some noise before day break.

Can I rate this a 4.5... they are really close to 5-worthy! On arrival porters hurried to get bags and take everyone to their rooms. I had the Cushca room in a secondary building off to the left of the main building - about a 2 minute walk away. The carpet was a bit frayed, there were a few cracks in the walls, and some outside noise .... okay that is all I have to say that wasn't 5* about this place. The room was large, with lofty ceilings, there was a chair and desk so you could make yourself comfortable, a working in-room safe, ample closet room, a big and newly renovated bathroom with granite and beautiful amenities, the shower was a dream - big, bright, great water pressure and temperature, the beds were a bit hard but with great linens, a new flat screen tv (hdmi so we could see our video/photos from the trip). I was exhausted and ordered room service... it was fast, efficient and really tasty.

The common areas in our building were utterly charming. There was even a fire lit in the fireplace just outside my room. It felt like I had a living room. Beautiful woven rugs were on the floor and nooks were filled with handicrafts. I was able to use their 2 shared-use computers... fast and easy. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. I loved the dining room ambiance.

What an oasis after a long hard day! Wish I could have stayed longer. Don't hesitate - it's great.

At the end of a long day in the car we spent a night at this really gorgeous hacienda. Our room was huge with fresh flowers in both bedroom and bathroom, the bed felt quite hard but we both slept like babies, and the bath was so big it took about half an hour to fill. The bar was welcoming and cosy and the restaurant excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We were taken by our guide to this hidden gem of a hotel in Riobamba. At the end of a dusty trail we entered a quiet haven. Low roofed buildings surrounded a quiet green area with a small fountain behind the restaurant, reception and common rooms. To one side was a small compound with goats, sheep and hens. The accommodation was beautifully appointed with bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. The excellent evening meal was served in a well decorated restaurant by polite and efficient staff. Breakfast was adequate and a slight let down after the sumptuous meal the night before. However they made up for this with a huge packed lunch which provided some nibbles for the following day. It was a pity we had to move on early in the morning.

Room Tip: rooms around the rear patio are not overlooked whereas the ones behind the restaurant have people pa...

We stayed in this hacienda for one night during our Andes Tour and were very happy with our stay. The rooms are spacious and clean with modern bathrooms and a nice fireplace. The patios are well-kept and the food was good. Breakfast was nice too. Definitely a good place to stay.

We arrived here late afternoon and left early the following morning for the Devil's Nose trip. It is a lovely setting , with the rooms facing out on to the inner gardens. The room was spacious with a comfy bed. The food was very good , it's a pity that we only had one night to eat here. There was someone playing the pan pipes to a backing track. The only problem was it was too loud but everywhere in Ecuador seems to like playing loud music.
We awoke to a cockerel crowing even though it wasn't dawn. Didn't really sample the breakfast as it was an early start and too early to do it justice.

This was the only hotel that we stayed at this trip that offered ‘entertainment’ during dinner. It was awful – the singer used a loud backing track for his playing pan-pipes and other instruments with unnecessary amplification. He also sang out of tune. We finished our meal as quickly as possible and retreated.
We stayed one night, arrived quite late and left early in the morning – as did most of the other guests who we saw again on the Devil’s Nose railway. Our room was some distance from the main building and up some awkward stairs. It was comfortable and, for the short time we were there, quite adequate. Service was performed with few smiles and little effort. I would rate this a three star hotel.
