You will probably never find another market like Otavalo on a Saturday. We went ready to spend and we were not disappointed. There is so much to feast your eyes on you will not believe it! Fruits and vegetables, the mountains, the people and the colorful handicrafts! A lot of the goods are manufactured, but they are still nice and incredibly cheap by American standards. We found wool tapestries (small ones for about $12, large around $35), scarfs ($2.50), silver jewelry ($10-$30) t-shirts ($5) and all kinds of purses and fabric wallets. This is a reasonable day trip from Quito and well worth the experience. I would go back in a minute and I could still find plenty to buy.
