“Excellent Staff, Great location, Clean & Safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

We were in Guayaquil on personal business. The staff arranged translators for us. When one night turned into 2, it was no problem at all to keep our room for another night. The staff was wonderfully efficient in every way.

The bed was comfortable. If you don't want to use the higher priced items in the refrigerator in your room, there are tiendas and pharmacies within safe walking distance.

Hot water with great pressure. Clean bathroom - no mold or mildew.
Air conditioning was just right - not too loud.
The television in our room had a frame built around it. While it looked nice, the frame distorted the sound somewhat.

The complimentary breakfast is a full breakfast; you will not be disappointed. We had one meal at the restaurant on-site. It was priced a bit more than usual, but the quality was worth it.

Well lit area at night. We had a street front room yet the traffic was not too noisey.
A short walk gets you to the Malecon 2000, US Embassy, Cedulaccion, and several eateries, day and night.

The hotel employs a great car service. Guests are able to call the hotel from any location within the city, and the hotel will dispatch a car to your location. If you are new to Guayaquil, this is a huge plus in both convenience and security.

When we need to stay in Guayaquil, the Hotel Palace is now our new go-to place.

This was our last stop in Equador and the Galapagos and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and Guayaguil. The hotel is near the waterfront and we had fun walking along the waterfront and through the old village. Rooms were clean and we were given a breakfast parcel as we needed to depart very early.

We stayed here for 2 nights before going on to the Galapagos islands. The hotel did the job for what we needed. The room was fairly large with all the amenities you would expect - tv, free wifi, fridge, bottled water etc.
It is a decent standard of hotel, not luxurious but good value for money in a convenient location. We walked to the Iguana Park (5 mins away) then along the Malecon 2000 and back to the hotel without encountering any problems.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good with a fairly wide choice of food - note it is a cold buffet but does include hot food cooked to order as well (although we were only offered this on one morning, not sure why they didn't ask on both days).
We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and the food was good here too (had some language problems which led to me not getting what I thought I had ordered but as I don't speak Spanish I can't really complain too much!)
The hotel is on a pretty noisy street during the day (much quieter at night time) but it didn't cause us any problems.
If you're looking for a good standard hotel to stay in on a short sightseeing visit to Guayaquil then this hotel fits the bill.

Dear Valued Guest:

Thank you very much for your constructive and helpful comments, we are very glad to read it.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to the Galapagos Island and we are happy for have been part of your Ecuador experience.

We are in the process of hiring a bilingual hostess for the dinner service; also we have decided to implement a nice signs in different languages at breakfast buffet detailing the hot dishes we are offering for the guest every day, hoping this way we break a little the language barrier and better meet our guest´s needs in the future.

Thank you again for taking your time to share your comments and help us to improve our services.

We are looking forward to have the opportunity to receive your visit in your next stay in Guayaquil.

Sincerely,

Lorena Garay de Bianchini

I wasn't expecting anything fancy and didn't get a 5 star treatment, nor a luxurious experience, but that's not what I was paying for. The value is good and even more for Guayaquil's standards, if you decide to stay downtown and near the famous Malecón 2000, really worth visiting as well. The place has big roomy staterooms, some of which have two queen size beds, Vegas type of room setting, a bit old fashioned. Not having flta pannel TV set is a something else, but it makes very little difference. The best feature of the hotel is being near the Malecón and the Iguanas' Park, by the cathedral.

The only negative aspect was perhaps the very bad internet connection, though they told me they were already working on solving it. I'd certainly recommend it, for its value. By the way, good breakfast and delicious typical food at the restaurant, too.

Room Tip: The ones facing the parking lot are less noisy

I stayed in rooms 220 and 315 during my stays at the start and finish of my trips around Ecuador. Both took in street noise, but were quite comfortable. The free breakfast was excellent; as was the location. The staff offered helpful information about travel about the city and made sure I had a safe, cheap taxi whenever I needed it. Guayaquil is not my cup of tea, but the Palace Hotel is fine.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

Excellent location, nice rooms with comfortable beds and we can confirm the staff is friendly and pleasant. However, had a bad night sleep in room 416 as the room gives over the road and its very very noisy with constant honking, sirens and other busy street nuisance. Also, our neighbour had the TV on as of 5.40 AM (!) and we were waken up after sleeping a short night when this person finally took to the TV off as of 11.30 PM the night before !!! Even with ear plugs, it was hard to sleep. Thus the walls are also paper thin. The reception acknowledged the problem and said they were working on it. They were kind enough to give us some extra hours free of charge in the room the next day as we were flying early evening.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms giving on noisy main street (415/416) and pray for a quiet neighbour !

We had two separate overnights in Guayaquil, one night before Galapagos and one night after before going home. The Palace was suitable for that. The rooms were very basic and small. The staff was friendly enough. The best part about the hotel was the location. It's only 2 blocks from the Malecon which made everything accessible by walking.
