“Good overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

Stayed here one night before and after our trip to the Galapagos Islands. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and provided all the amenities we had time for. In-hotel restaurants made it unnecessary to venture into Guayaquil. We appreciated the king bed on the return trip, after a week in a cramped ship's cabin, as well as the showers! There does not appear to be much in the immediate area to see or do, but since we were here so briefly that didn't matter... clean and comfy were our main priorities. The stays were included in our tour price, so I don't know if the hotel was a good value for the price, but I suspect it is...Lindblad has been using it for seventeen years, surely a good reccomendation.

I stayed here for 6 nights in late November on a business trip. I was disappointed on arrival to find that the swimming pool and outdoor seating area were closed for maintenance; although that was not a big issue as I went out sightseeing for much of the weekend.
I had an executive room which was spacious and well equipped. The internet connection (via a cable from the phone) was very good. The buffet breakfast was superb - a tremendous range of food to choose from. For other meals when I was eating at the hotel, I used the cafeteria/takeaway on the far side of the Cafe Colon (good range and value) at lunch times; and the Terrace restaurant (good, and nice when you can sit outside) on a couple of evenings. One tip - take your own tbags; the "tai inglese" was not good. Also note that milk is not provided with the tea/coffee facilities in the room; although free milk will be brought on request, which you can then leave in the mini-bar, once you have got the key for that.
The hotel is not located in an area where you can walk to things, but taxis are readily available and very cheap. I found it well worthwhile to take a 1/2 day city tour to get shown round the key sites - used Eddie Cevallos, as recommended by the hotel concierge, who was an interesting guide and spoke excellent English.

Stayed here one night before and after my Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic Endeavor tour of the Galapagos Islands. Given the modest accommodations on board the Endeavor, I was also expecting the same out of the Hilton Colon Guayaquil. I was pleasantly surprised! Not only was the room very clean, comfortable and well appointed, but the hotel itself had a nice pool, hot tub, and spa. It also had a convenient business center, where I was able to use a PC and print out my airline boarding passes free of charge. And service was great! I definitely recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Guayaquil.

We stayed an afternoon and night on our way from the Galapagos to BA. There was no bell boy to take our luggage to our room. The pool was closed for maintenance and the terrace grill was closed for a private lunch party so there was nowhere to sit outside. Service in Cafe Colon was extremely slow, but dinner in the terrace restaurant was pleasant and the service good. The airport courtesy bus is useless as it goes once an hour on the hour, so is of no help if you have to arrive at the airport on the hour. Our room was comfortable but non-descript. Not a great hotel to relax for an afternoon. I would look for other options near the airport.

My husband and I had two short stays here on our way to and back from the Galapagos Islands. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms were excellent. The hotel was very clean. If you go to Cafe Colon inside the hotel, DON'T order from the menu. The service is painfully slow. But, the buffet had a nice selection and the food was good.

Hotel is a bit expensive, however it is well located in the commercial zone of Guayaquil. It is a bit far away from downtown and from the tourist area on the river shore. Compared to other hotels that have shuttles almost continuously waiting in the airport, to get a ride to the Hotel you need to call the concergie, and they will send you the shuttle. Hotel has a nice outdoor swiming pool which is great considering the weather in Guayaquil.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the elevator are noisy, specially on weekends, due to parties and wedings and music i...
