“Lovely large executive rooms with views but disastrous service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We came here following our Galapagos cruise and island stay to find no one at the check in desk and no bell boys for our luggage. Eventually we arrived at our room which was very spacious with great views of the sunset. Wanting a sauna, I checked with the executive lounge, that it was actually on in the spa. I was told it was and so duly went down a few floors in my gown to discover it was not on and that it would take 30 minutes or more to heat up. So I didnt bother and we went to the lounge and being Sunday there was an early start to a wide range of drinks from the bar. We enjoyed the evening chatting with other guests sharing Galapagos stories. The next morning I again asked about the sauna and the receptionist telephoned down to the spa and I was told it was definitely on. For the second time, it was stone cold. So rather annoyed, I went into the shower area of the women's spa area to discover a naked man in one of the showers. There were several staff at the reception area of the spa who were all engaged in lively discussion. Obvioulsy none of them bother to check the facilities such as the sauna, let alone the fact that a male was in the women's area. I complained to the staff there and in the lounge. We then went to the concierge as we wished to take the bus tour which does a circuit of the town. After a 5 minute wait someone appeared and made a number of calls about it and we were advised to take a taxi to the start point of the tour which we did. What became apparent, was that the ciruclar bus tour actually passed the hotel and so we could have saved ourselves the taxi trip and jumped on the bus at the hotel. Some concierge. That evening we went to the bar and we were told that due to heavy drinking the night before (not sure by whom!) that the red wine was limited! Luckily I was on white wine but my partner was on red. We had to ask for a refill as the red wine was not on the bar display with all the other drinks. Needing a further red wine refill, I looked through the service door to locate the server and saw a whole bottle of red wine on the side in the service area. When the server came to the door, I pointed to the bottle and said that we needed another glass. The server was most displeased that I had spotted this bottle. A few minutes later a glass of red wine was slammed down on our table by her without a word. During our couple of hours in the bar, several members of staff appeared and took food from the buffet and went into the service area to eat it. I did make a strong complaint the following morning and recieved an apology from the hotel. However the management must be very poor as these experiences are unacceptable in a Hilton and really spoilt our stay. We were left feeling that the hotel was to serve the needs of the staff and not the guests.

I have just completed my stay here and what a disappointment for the Hilton name. Room smelled damp and musty, carpet was filthy, pillows smelled dirty, there was no coffee in the coffemaker, Internet service was free but did not work. Upon checkout I was never asked about my stay nor did he even thank me for my business. He acted inconvenienced to have to walk a few feet to the counter to close out my bill. Very very poor experience. Never to return or recommend this hotel.

Although the public areas, restaurants and bars are all in very good order, this hotel is let down by the quality of its bedrooms.

There was a peculiar, musty, damp smell in the rooms which I eventually put down to the antiquated air conditioning system - most unhealthy. In the end I left it turned off and opened the window. Also, the carpets, both in the rooms and corridors were old and heavily stained, and unlike most Hilton's, there were no gowns or slippers provided.

The other problem is that the sound insulation in between rooms is so poor that you can hear literally everything happening in the bathroom of the adjacent room. Not nice!

Bottled water was regularly refreshed, as were the bathrooms, however the tea and coffee provided was completely undrinkable.

The hotel staff are very polite and always had a greeting as you walked around the hotel. On my last day day both the internet access and hot water failed - not a good finale.

It is a real pity that what could be a really good hotel is spoiled by overlooking the essentials - clean, pleasant rooms.

We stayed here after the hell that was Puerto Lopez and it was a nice return to cleanliness and civilisation.

We met John Malkovich over breakfast as he was doing a show in Guayaquil which added to the experience.

In summary, very nice and spacious rooms, very very safe, great food and good service(Ecuadorean style=very very slow)

We stayed here on our way to Baltra GPS...and it was the perfect overnight hotel. Convenient to the airport -- yet NOT an airport hotel. VERY pleasant staff. Nice amenities. Lots of restaurant options. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant (the Porifino) in the hotel and it was really very good. Great services...and very delicious food. I'd highly recommend it .
The hotel itself is a bit big....but the services were excellent. Security seemed very good which made us feel protected.
Wished we had stayed here on our way back.

Stayed there for 2 and then 1 night on our way to-from Ecuador. The hotel is very nice with many amenities, bars, restaurants, great breakfast service and an incredible executive lounge. The pool area is big, although the service at the pool is slow. Many private parties and many people coming in and out of the hotel at all times. Very nice gym and spa. Spacious rooms, although just a bit worn.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the elevator. With all the people going in and out of the hotel for private...

It is an Hilton ( big, impersonal and so on) but very well organised and located. Excellent service and spacious clean rooms.
The staff is helpfull and profesional, exactly what you need for a one night stop.
