We came here following our Galapagos cruise and island stay to find no one at the check in desk and no bell boys for our luggage. Eventually we arrived at our room which was very spacious with great views of the sunset. Wanting a sauna, I checked with the executive lounge, that it was actually on in the spa. I was told it was and so duly went down a few floors in my gown to discover it was not on and that it would take 30 minutes or more to heat up. So I didnt bother and we went to the lounge and being Sunday there was an early start to a wide range of drinks from the bar. We enjoyed the evening chatting with other guests sharing Galapagos stories. The next morning I again asked about the sauna and the receptionist telephoned down to the spa and I was told it was definitely on. For the second time, it was stone cold. So rather annoyed, I went into the shower area of the women's spa area to discover a naked man in one of the showers. There were several staff at the reception area of the spa who were all engaged in lively discussion. Obvioulsy none of them bother to check the facilities such as the sauna, let alone the fact that a male was in the women's area. I complained to the staff there and in the lounge. We then went to the concierge as we wished to take the bus tour which does a circuit of the town. After a 5 minute wait someone appeared and made a number of calls about it and we were advised to take a taxi to the start point of the tour which we did. What became apparent, was that the ciruclar bus tour actually passed the hotel and so we could have saved ourselves the taxi trip and jumped on the bus at the hotel. Some concierge. That evening we went to the bar and we were told that due to heavy drinking the night before (not sure by whom!) that the red wine was limited! Luckily I was on white wine but my partner was on red. We had to ask for a refill as the red wine was not on the bar display with all the other drinks. Needing a further red wine refill, I looked through the service door to locate the server and saw a whole bottle of red wine on the side in the service area. When the server came to the door, I pointed to the bottle and said that we needed another glass. The server was most displeased that I had spotted this bottle. A few minutes later a glass of red wine was slammed down on our table by her without a word. During our couple of hours in the bar, several members of staff appeared and took food from the buffet and went into the service area to eat it. I did make a strong complaint the following morning and recieved an apology from the hotel. However the management must be very poor as these experiences are unacceptable in a Hilton and really spoilt our stay. We were left feeling that the hotel was to serve the needs of the staff and not the guests.
