We arrived at the hotel for a 2 night stay and were greeted by a friendly and welcoming receptionist who personally showed us to our room. The hotel is well located and is only a couple of minutes walk to the picturesque “old town”. The room was an extremely good size, air conditioned (which is essential during summer) with a small kitchen and also a nice sized bathroom. Everything was extremely clean, with the quality of the bed being very satisfactory and furnishings being of a good basic quality. The wifi was free and also worked without any problems from our room.
The room we had was on the rear public car park side of the hotel and would recommend rooms on this side, as they are away from the main road which runs outside the front of the hotel and therefore shielded from the traffic noise (which can be considerable during the peak tourist season). The hotel offers two free parking options, comprising three spots at the front of the hotel or alternatively, parking in the public car park at the rear of the hotel. We chose the public car park option, which proved to be a smart move, as due to the volume of traffic, getting in / out of the three spots out the front of the hotel would have proven to be somewhat of a nightmare.
There is also a bar / café bar at the front of the hotel which was open until the early hours of the morning, with staff service being first class and no push to chase people out when closing time approached.
The breakfast comprised a cold buffet continental style, with the option available to order cooked eggs or ham and cheese omelettes, with the quality being quite satisfactory.
After breakfast, the receptionist approached us to say that the water was going to be turned off for much of the day and as a result, offered us the option to transfer to their sister hotel (Villa Rustica) which was approximately 5klms away and had a swimming pool. Bearing in mind the weather was extremely hot and we had explored the “old town” the previous day, we were happy to accept the offer, particularly, as we discovered upon our arrival that there was a wedding scheduled for the Saturday night. At the time of booking, we had some reservations about a Saturday night stay, as we had previously read on some Tripadvisor reviews that there was considerable noise generated from wedding functions (comments with which we would totally agree, as the function room is directly above many of the rooms).
The hotel also said they would drive us to the Villa Rustica and we could follow them in our car. As a token for the inconvenience caused, the hotel gave us a free bottle of snaps in a lovely lighthouse shaped bottle and also arranged for a free evening meal.
All in all, the service and friendliness provided by all staff was first class and overall would summarise by saying this is a very good 3 star hotel with rooms reasonably priced. As a word of caution, be weary of staying on Saturday nights if a wedding function is booked, due to the likely noise factor.
