“Stylish hotel on a lovely bay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

An easy walk from the busy centre of picturesque Rovinj, Monte Mulini was a great place to start a holiday in Croatia. Our room was smart and unfussy, air-conditioned to the right temperature, with a comfortable bed and an excellent bathtub and shower. All rooms face the bay and have balconies, though ours was too hot for comfort on a July afternoon with direct sun. Overlooking the bay, the hotel's four outdoor pools have plenty of well-shaded loungers, with some spread across the lawns. Only one of the four is really large enough for a serious swim. Swimming in the bay is an alternative, and very popular at weekends with locals (and a few of their dogs). We enjoyed the high quality and varied buffet breakfast (excellent fruit) and the two main restaurants, though the pool cafe did not quite hit the same high notes. The hotel's sister hotels are next-door neighbours, but are set back from the bay and, from the outside at least, seem bigger and less characterful. Choose the Monte Mulini!

We had already been traveling for 3 weeks in Europe when we arrived at the Monte Mulini in Rovinj. We were tired from our almost 5-hour journey from Venice, tired of crowded tourist destinations, and longed for peace and relaxation. Needless to say, we were anxious to arrive in Rovinj. I selected this hotel and had seen all the amazing photos and read all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. When I walked into the lobby, my jaw dropped to my feet. The receptionist asked, "Better than the photos, right"? Yes! Huge, three-story high windows highlighting the view. My family was speechless. Not only was the lobby entrance incredible, the rest of the hotel experience was as well, including: the service, the rooms, the bathrooms, the food, the pools, the location, the views. We are not at all 5-star hotel people, but we splurged on this one knowing we had saved some money on nice B&Bs earlier in the trip. If you are interested in the rest of our trip, read my blog at planyourtrips.wordpress.com.

Stayed as a family at the Monte Mulini in the middle of July and enjoyed it immensly. The quality of the hotel and facilities were as good as those we have enjoyed anywhere. We also found the staff very helpful - they happily arranged a transfer for us from the airport and were very obliging.
Breakfast provided a wide choice of good quality food to cater for all tastes and we ate once at the restaurant. The food was of a high quality and was very enjoyable.
The highlight was a trip on the hotel's sailing boat. It happened that we were the only people on the cruise around the islands and it was if we had our own personal cruise boat and crew - very cool!
Easy walking distance from the old town so we could enjoy the best of both worlds. Would happily visit again - probably will.

I have stayed at Hotel Eden for 5 years with the Maistra group and this year popped into Monte Mulini for lunch and one of Marcello's EXCELLENT mojitos. When we came to leave we were told by the senior gentleman in Reception that we could not depart from the way we had come in. He told us to go out of front door, down a lot of steps and onto public path back to Hotel Eden. His attitude was not what a customer would expect and we were very disappointed.
The staff at the sister hotel Eden are pleasant and friendly.

Had three nights here at the end of a week long trip to Istria (our first), we had already fallen in love with the area and will be visiting again and the Monte Mulini provided the perfect finish to a great holiday. Did not eat at the hotel or use the spa but it looked fantastic. Nice sunbeds and the prices although dearer than in the town were reasonable for a hotel of this quality. Great location to explore the town of Rovinj and nearby coastline by bike, but Istria is a fabulous compact little region anyway if you have a car. The rooms were large and luxurious, no real complaints at all which is rare for me!
Only negatives were that there were not enough bikes, we didn't manage to get one either day of our stay but hardly a problem to pay the small fee and hire one from one of the many places along the front. If being really picky our mini bar was missing a bottle of white wine which we did mention but it was not replaced, hardly an issue and I feel the hotel could benefit from a shuttle to the town, preferably a boat one which would be lovely at night but again not a concern to us as we are big walkers but it would possibly attract less able customers currently put off by the 20 minute walk to the centre. Oh and the bath took an age to fill but great shower!
The location is superb and if you fancy a real treat in a great hotel near a wonderful old town then go.

Located 10 minutes walking from Rovinj, in a wooded peninsula and with a garden facing a beautiful protected bay, this ultramodern hotel is the best in town.
All rooms face the ocean, are big and have an oversized compartimented bathroom with tub and shower cabin.
The room terraces are a pleasent relaxing option, the large pool very convenient and a wellness spa with sauna, etc makes the whole amenities 5 star.
Everything in perfect condition, with 2 very good restaurants plus a pool snack bar and a scenographic living and bar.
The access to a public pier into the sea crossing a pedestrian street adds the possibility of sea swimming although because of a lack of privacy there, very few opted out of the pool. A pity the builders did not connect the garden to a sea floating deck with a bridge over the small street !
Complimentary parking and WI FI throughout the whole hotel ( though of unstable signal strength ) makes the general experience here highly recomandable
