“Fantastic Choice”

Hotel Eden

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Hotel Eden in Rovinj, Croatia. The hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful & friendly. It has the biggest swimming pool (salt water) that I have ever seen. Plenty of sun loungers (free) around the pool or in the large surrounding garden areas. Although we had two teenagers with us, the hotel is particularly good for younger children, as there is plenty to keep them amused, including kids pool, kids club with many activities, mini-golf, table tennis etc. The food was very good. Buffet-style breakfast & dinner, providing the largest variety possible. The hotel is a pleasant, easy, level, 10 min walk along a promenade to the town delightful town of Rovinj. There are many places for a drink/pizza/ice-cream etc. The only drawback to the holiday was the cost of the excursions, which was the same with all the tour operators and the hotel. Two of us visited the Plitvice Lakes, which were beautiful, but in our opinion not worth the £55 each cost (especially as the entrance fee was only £8.50) or the 5 hour drive to get there, which they didn't tell us about!! The other excursions to the caves & studfarm in Slovenia and the boat trip to Venice, were of similar cost. We wish we had gone for two weeks and would definately go again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a fairly quiet, relaxed hotel.

Hotel Eden

A lot has already been said about the grounds at Hotel Eden which I would just echo how nice and spacious they are. We never sat round the pool at all but took advantage of the beautiful surroundings amongst the trees. You still get the sun if you place your sunbed in the right position.

In all the time of staying in hotels on holiday, this is the first time I have ever met the manager. His presence each day in the restaurant and walking around the hotel speaking to guests made the stay there even more special.

Although there was a welcome meeting with the Thompson's reps, the hotel also gave their own welcome meeting introducing you to many of the staff. [Again another first for us]

On leaving the hotel to return home, the manager came up to us, shook our hands and had a small chat to us.

This is a small part of the stay at the Eden and all the staff are friendly and approachable.

The only negative comment I could say about our stay was the shock of the vibrating music from the entertainment on our first night[we were on the second floor above the entertainment centre] and even with the door closed could still hear the loud music outside. We did get used to it and at 12am, all was silent.

We would definitely return to the Eden in the future.

We stayed at the Eden from 28 July - 11 August. We were undecided between the Eden and the Park and were glad we went with the Eden, purely because of the extensive grounds, whereby you could relax without 'being on top of eachother'. The restaurant provides plenty of choice with soups, salads, carvery, pasta and as you would expect lots of locally caught fish dishes.
The hotel is large and modern with good quality fittings in every room. Newly refurbished bedrooms have LCD TV's, minibar, comfortable beds and a good hot power shower. The towels and bed linen are pristine white.
The pool is huge and although we stayed a fortnight, it was never even quarter full! The gardens have plenty of sunbeds and everything is spotlessly clean.
By far and away the Eden's best asset though, is it's staff. From cleaners to waitresses, everyone cannot do enough for you.
I would recommend this hotel to all ages. It is just a nice 10/15 min leisurely stroll into the beautiful town of Rovinj, which has a classic Italian feel. Good restaurants are aplenty and the harbour is beautiful. The water is crystal clear and great for snorkelling and spotting crabs! We didn't do trips, as we had been to Venice and to be honest couldn't tear our 6 year old away from the kids club - which is just fab! The the best by far we have ever seen. With three sessions a day, children are kept occupied for up to 5 hours doing a variety of activities, including plays, cabarets, talent shows, pool basketball, drawing, football to name a few. This gave valuable relaxion time to the parents. The Entertainment team are fantastic, in particular Zoron and Cassandra, who all the kids absolutely loved. For older ones there is a variety of things to do, aqua aerobics, archery, etc. You can hire bikes from the hotel very cheaply and explore the many small coves and catch some rays. The region is surprisingly green, given the temperatures and the Eden is surrounded by plenty of trees.
All in all, this was our first trip to Croatia and we would certainly go back. Rovinj is one of the most scenic places we have seen, literally picture postcard and The Hotel Eden deserves every one of it's 4 stars!

“Lovely, lovely place”

Rovinj is lovely. A beautiful old seaside town with a pretty harbour and great fish restaurants. Croatia is beautiful and not highl;y commercialised. Rovinj is special and the town best geared up for tourists that we saw.

The Hotel Eden is a large, well located and well run hotel with very good facilities - activities, pool, gym etc. We really enjoyed our time here. My only quibble is wi-fi access only worked in the reception and it was charged for - these days I feel it should be free.

This was our first trip to Croatia and we would definitely go back. The country is beautiful and relatively unspoilt and the people are welcoming and friendly. Rovinj is a quaint, old town with plenty to see and an excellent choice of small shops and restaurants.

This was our first time at The Hotel Eden (organised through Portland) and we had a fantastic holiday. The Hotel is not as big as one of the last reviews said, it has 330 rooms. What we liked is that you never felt as though it was overcrowded. The gardens are extensive and the pool large, and there were always plenty of sun beds. The rooms have all been re-furbished and are a good size with small but well-equipped bathrooms.

We enjoyed many evening meals at the hotel as we stayed on a half board basis, and have to say that whilst we were there, the food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. We regularly ordered a carafe of wine at dinner which was cheaper than the bottles, and this was very drinkable.

There was evening entertainment every night on a stage area outside at the main bar. Some of this was very good (some not so!) but if you didn't want to listen this was difficult unless you walked down to the very far end of the grounds to the Oleander Grill area where you could enjoy a quiet drink at night as well as very good lunches. Most nights we tended to walk into nearby Rovinj which had many quieter outside bars on the waters edge.

We were fortunate enough to be invited to a small lunch party hosted by Boris, the General Manager and some of his team. This was superb and really helped to make us feel special, so thanks once again to you all and thank you to all the staff at the Eden for creating such a warm, welcoming atmosphere - nothing was ever too much trouble.
