“pleasant place to stay outside of the old city of Rovinj”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

loved our rooms, balconyview and the wine and beverages that were available.
also, the breakfeast was outstanding.
the owner had several good restaurant recoomendations.
this is another lovely croatian place to stay without an elevator.
the villa is an easy enough walk into town

Room Tip: higher up - better views but more stairs

We stayed here 3 nights during the Red Bull air races and the hotel is situated on a small hill that was a street behing the Race Club and Sky Lounge with direct views of the water - amazing and gorgeous! We stayed in the two level apartment with one of the best views (it's the highest balcony in the photos). We did read reviews and they were right about two things: the wifi didn't work in the room, but if we opened the door, we could get a signal; second the bathroom did have a smell, but what do you expect? Rovinj is not a built up city with name brand hotels. That is part of it's charm. The bathroom as well as the rest of the hotel was immaculately clean. You can tell they really put thought into the design and materials. The apartment has a 2 burner stove with pots/pans/utensils, a microwave, dishwasher, sink and small fridge.

The owner speaks Croatian (of course), German, English and I think Italian as well (most of the residents speak Croatian/Italian since it was an old Venetian town). I think they speak German because so many Austrians are there vacationing.

The hotel owners have a farm and a vineyard and produce their own wine. Although you can't see the farm/vineyard, they do produce the wine on premises as it is evident with all the equipment. I highly suggest the Malvasija (white wine native to Rovinj) and the Fuga they produce (it's hearty, robust red). The owner will tell you to "write in the book" of what you take (the price is by the bottle, not the glass - but it's around 6 to 8 euros/bottle) - the book is really a notepad on the front desk. Just write what you took the date and your name. She will settle with you at check out.

I would definitely stay here again, everything was lovely. It's a 10 minute walk to town. It is a slight hill coming back from town, but nothing you can't handle unless you're really out of shape or elderly. The location of the hotel is also extremely quiet at night so you'll get a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view/balcony.

We really enjoyed our short stay at the Villa Dobravac. Our room was beautifully designed and very spacious. I had communicated with the owner several times prior to our visit and had told her that I wanted a "Room with a View" and she did not disappoint. Upon showing us to our room, she flung open the double doors to the balcony and said, "And this is your view." And a great view it was of Rovinj as the sun was setting behind it. Incredible.

The Villa is part of a small farm and winery. We purchased several bottles of their great wine and enjoyed them throughout our trip through Croatia. Additionally, they also make one of Croatia's best Olive Oils as well which we also purchased.

The owner was very accommodating and provided lots of information about the area, wine and olive production and even gave us a tour of their produce stand.

Overall, a great experience in a really stunning family boutique hotel. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Room Tip: The most expensive rooms aren't necessarily the ones with the best view.

The hotel building has a feel of quality about it. It has been built with good materials, and no expense spared making it an attractive place to stay. The rooms are large and well appointed. The beds are comfy. The gardens are small, but there is adequate shaded parking. We only stayed 2 nights, which was not enough. Rovinj was my favourite place in Croatia that we stayed. I could not fault it, Such a beautiful and interesting town. Lovely restuarants, great swimming areas alongside the old buildings, authentic harbour, and friendly people.

The hotel only let us down on two things. Firstly the wifi in the room was mostly non existant. The second thing, that despite a really large, well equipped modern bathroom, there were really hard and horrible towels. I cannot understand this, as so much care was taken with everything else!!! Using these after a shower was no fun at all, as they were small as well as rough textured!!

The breakfast was nice, sat outside on the terrace. There was plenty of choice, lots of fresh fruit, different breads, cakes, omelettes to order, real fruit juice etc.

The owner speaks really good English. she was very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The location here is perfect. Just10 minutes walk from the town. You get a good view of it, through the trees from the hotel rooms. The only downside is a very smelly fish factory a few minutes walk away, and the fact the return journey is all uphill !!

I would recommend this to anyone staying in Rovinj. It was not the cheapest accomodation, but as they say, you get what you pay for...well, most of the time! This place is worth it. We only had 2 nights,. Our room had a really small balcony ( standing room only ), If I stayed longer I would want a bigger balcony However, for 2 nights this was fine as we did not spend much time in the room,

Room Tip: Get a proper balcony if you stay more than a couple of nights.

We stayed here for three nights. Thanks to our GPS, we couldn't find the place. After directions to the town by the host, she actually drove the whole 100 metres to us and we followed her back.. Couldn't believe we were so close.
The place is spotless and so modern inside and you have glimpses of the city skyline through the pine trees. Our room was one of the largest that we have ever stayed at and the balcony was a nice treat as well ( great for drying the smalls too lol)
The bathroom was very modern and of a good size with plenty of bench space. One thing I noticed was that there was no soap. There were two very small bottles of what must have been shampoo? But these weren't replenished , no big deal though!
Our host was very generous with her help , suggestions and info about the town ( lovely) . We had a flat tyre on the morning of our departure and the young son of the owner was of great assistance to my husband who had hurt his back and couldn't do much. This town and this villa was a favourite on our trip.
Note; did get that vile fishy smell occasionally during our stay
; enjoyed our breakfasts also, we were only asked about eggs once and that was when we had finished breaky too, but we are big people and could have asked if we had wanted them. Enjoyed all the fruit , especially fresh figs and grapes.
Would recommend. So close to the town too.

We stayed here the first night of our trip through Croatia. Beautiful Rovinj center is within 10 mins walking distance. From our sea view room we could not see the center because of trees obscuring the view, but other rooms will probably have that view. Our room was very spacious, and very attractively decorated. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable recommending restaurants in the city, in of one of which (Balby I think) we dined and enjoyed very much. On the minus side we noted a few small things (no place to put our soap in the shower, the sink got a bit blocked), but overall we highly recommend this well managed guest house.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room fro which you can see the Rovinj city center.

This was the most amazing hotel we stayed in throughout our whole trip. The rooms were brand new, spottlessly clean and have ocean veiws. The breakfast included in the rate is great, assorted meats, cheeses, granola and yogurt with eggs made to order. And, this is a family run hotel that also produces olive oil and wine that are both delicious. We were able to get a bottle of their wine and sit on our balcony each night.

The hotel is just outside of town, but dont let that scare you off, it is litteraly a 15 min walk along the water. We had no problem walking to and from more than once in a day and it felt like staying in the country.

The service was far better than expected, everyone spoke english and we had the owner waiting to welcome us when we arrived. She also helped us with lots of recomendations for places to eat, where to rent bikes, and a boat tour to take. I would make the trip back and stay here in a heartbeat, we even extended our stay by a day becouse we didn't want to have to say goodbye.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, when we were there they had either just been remodeled or were in the proce...
