“Late holiday break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Stayed in the appartments 15th to 22nd September with my wife, daughter and daughter's boyfriend. We arrived just after the conclusion of the Unknown Music festival so there were hundreds of festival goers checking out. As we were early (about 13:00pm) we could not check in as this was from 15:00 pm onwards so we decided to leave our bags at Reception and head off to the restaurant for some lunch. This proved more difficult than we thought, the buffet type lunch was not available because that side of the restaurant hand just closed, when we went into the a la carte restaurant and tried to order a drink and food we were told that we had to join a queue of people who were paying at a till at the end of the bar. By this time I was p*****d off said something like this is b****cks and stormed out of the restaurant followed by the other members of my party. We then caught the shuttle bus into Rovinj and had pizzas and drinks, by which time I had calmed down!! We returned to Amarin by taxi and checked in. The appartments were well equipped and clean so I was now warming to the place even though there was quite a lot of debris and rubbish strewn around the complex due to the music festival, pretty much like festivals the world over really. However after a few days the clean up teams had done a remarkable job in transforming the place and we were just unlucky in that we chose to stay the week after the festival. It is unfair to judge on the basis of what we encountered and I am sure that under normal circumstances it would be a very nice place to stay, once things had been tidied up and the remnants of the festival had disappeared it was a very enjoyable holiday. We did not eat in the a la carte restaurant until the Friday night as we had hired a car for 3 days and ate in Rovinj or our appartments. The meal we had was terrible and the service was not very good either and it was poor value for money compared to meals we had in Rovinj. We didn't pay a lot for the holiday about £1100 for 4 including flights and transfers so we cannot really complain too much. We had a problem with the wash hand basin plug mechanism which I reported to Reception, I was told that someone would attend straight away and within 10 minutes of reporting the fault the maintenance engineer came to the appartment and repaired the mechanism so that service was excellent!! We would return, but obviously at a different time than our recent stay, most likely June/July.

Stayed in the 3* apartments whilst attending Unknown Festival. It was very much worth it as there were biblical storms several times over the week!
Everything you need is there - cooker, fridge, microwave, plates etc and staff were bang on it with any problems and very efficient.
Ideally placed for also looking round Rovinj - very beautiful place indeed, and enjoyed our stay immensely

This resort has been fully renovated and a whole new section of 300 apartments, three new pools and restaurants added last year. So most old reviews are out-of-date, this review is relevant for the new premium apartments.

We liked:
Brand new apartments
Modern furniture, dishwasher, flatscreen TVs
Great beds and linens
Super quiet and efficient air-conditioner
Friendly and fast check-in
Great pizza restaurant
Pool area with three seawater pools (all a little cold)
View over the bay to Rovinj from pebbly beach and rocky shoreline
Shuttle boat to town
Ample parking and quietness of resort
Payment for pool chaises (at least you can get one)

We did not like:
Lack of personality of resort and apartments (functional but cold)
Limited cleaning of apartment (not clear when and if somebody comes to clean)
Very limited kitchen utensils (one sharp knife and not much else)
No starter kit (no salt, no sponge, no dishwashing liquid)
Impersonal interior design with zero decorative elements
Dark, sad, too small terrace (only in 6 people apartment)

Tips:
Get an outside facing apartment
The further you go on the rocky beach the quieter it gets
There is a supermarket on the resort behind the camping area
Do not buy fruit or grapes in Rovinj at the outdoor market - it is scam

Stayed at the resort Amarin for one week from 17th Aug.
Overall impressions is that this is not a 4 star resort as advertised, much more like an average 3 star. Quite pricey for what we got.
Good things. Near the beach, 2 swimming pools, mini club. Bad things room was ok but nothing to do with the pictures advertised, (much smaller) Finishes were not great. Door handle on toilet broken, Sink tap loose, signs of previous damp in the room, poor TV picture. Reported these problems and someone did come to have a look, but nothing was done.
The restaurant is modern in appearance but the food served is very average and not value for money. Go downstairs for a pizza or alternatively head to Rovinj town where there is much better choice of quality or decent affordable food.
My advise would be to try and rent your own apartment or if you can afford, pay a bit more and get a proper 4 star service.

Room Tip: If you want rooms advertised on webpage be sure to ask for the RENOVATED rooms done in 2013 as you m...

NEW Amarin apartments are well equipped-besides room(s), bathroom- there is a kitchen, A/C (since neighborhood resorts are.....well...). For the resort place, their restaurant offers good food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: definitely ask for NEW Amarin apartments

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

I was lucky enough to stay in one of the renovated apartments, so I can't complain much. The rooms were cozy, with a really nice terrace. Our biggest problem were the ants, which appeared out of nowhere during the night. There didn't seem to be any room service whatsoever. There is also no free Wi-Fi and the prices for using the Internet at the reception were ridiculously high. The beach is amazing, though, and the sunset is breathtaking.
