At the Arbiana, where we stayed 5 days, we found the best of both worlds--the personalized attention of a good B&B and the physical luxuries of a five star hotel. The room furnishings were first class, as were the room, bar and restaurant services. Because this is a small boutique hotel, right away we got to know all the service people and they got to know us. We had a suite on the top (3rd floor) with a balcony that had a million dollar view of the Adriatic islands with a backdrop of the hills on Rab island (caution--only about half the rooms had this view--check when reserving). We could throw a baseball into the water from our balcony where we sat and watched the sail boats and yachts (up to 125') come and go. Just as wonderful as our balcony was the garden dining area that is partially enclosed by the old city wall and a colorful small garden. It was well shaded with olive trees and in the evenings each table had a big candle which made dining even that much more magical and romantic (there is also a lovely indoor dining room). We had breakfast and dinner each day and the food was very good, interesting, and beautifully presented.
