My husband and I live in Bosnia-Herzegovina, so we usually spend at least part of our holiday every year somewhere in Croatia. This is mostly Makarska Riviera, but this year we decided for the first time to go north - to Istria. We found this hotel on the web, and got some recommendation from friends.
Hotel is large (300 rooms), and situated in very nice place. It is situated in 'Plava laguna' (Blue lagoon), in the middle of pine forest, 20 minutes walking distance from the town. You can walk to Porec, or use nice touristic train, one-way ticket is 1,4 €. Rooms are clean, but pretty small and toilets need to be restaurated a.s.a.p. There is no air-condition, but as we spent 10 days here in august, it was already not too hot. Rooms have cable-TV, with 15 channels. If possible, try to get seaside-view, it absolutly worths to pay 2 € extra. Hotel staff is very kind, everybody speak Italian, English and German, and reception-staff also Russian. Food is buffet-style, very rich and including fresh fruits, as well as free-of-charge drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks). Swimming pool is nice, clean, with salt water, but a little bit small for 300 rooms in hotel... Sun beds and umbrellas are free-of-charge, but you have to get up early in order to 'make reservation' (leave towel on it).
Beach is 5 minutes walking distance, concrete. You can rent sun beds for 2,7 € per day. If you don't like sun, you can spend time on grass, in nice natural shadow, just few meters from the see... Very important is that most beaches in this region have 'blue flag' as very clean.
If you are sport-type, you can enjoy some water sports, as well as tennis, volley beach, table tenis. They have also some programs for kids.
You can enjoy entertainment/music on hotel's terrace every night, with special program 1-2 times per week. Or, you can sit in 'Havana' bar, in hotel, and drink some nice cocktails. Or, you can go to Porec...
Porec is nice old town, with small narrow streets in which you can find plenty of stores with nice souvenires. Euphrasius Basilica is under UNESCO protection and it is situated in the midle of old town. Many nice restaurants and caffe bars offer nice and not expencive food and drinks. You can get very nice full dinner for 20-30 €. Or, if you like, you can also go to some steak house and eat even for 10 €. Coffey is 0,8 € cappuccino 1,4 € beer 2 € alcohol cocktails 5-6 €...
