We stayed in the Parentium in Zelena Laguna this summer and I absolutely loved it. I can see where the last reviewer was coming from but what on earth did they expect from a country with a history like Croatia? It is a poor nation where the average wage is $400 a month!
We found the people really nice and friendly - probably not the most chatty but who cares? I wanted a break from talking!
The buffet breakfast and dinner were well stocked with plently of choice and far better than a lot of the buffet style restaurants I have been to! there was Cava for breakfast if you wanted it and a diet corner for the weight conscience (although I didn't touch it!).
The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and we had clean towels and bed linen every day. they were a little stuffy but leaving the window open with with the net curtains drawn solved that problem.
We had a room over the pool where we managed to get the last of the sun everyday - from here we were could see 5 or 6 staff scrub the pool area every evening and I do mean scrub! they hosed, got down and scrubbed with brushes, squigied and hosed again every day! How anyone can think it was dirty is beyond me!
We loved the area too - the hotel is on the quieter side of Zelena Laguna so you can take a break from the hustle and bustle and chill out or walk for about three minutes to the busy part of the beach by hotel Plavi - this has all manner of water sports at ridiculously cheap prices and a fab blow up water park!
There are lots of little restaurants around this area where you can have lunch for two and a drink for €12!
You can catch a little train or ferry from outside the hotel to Porec which is a great busy little town! we had quite a few nights out there in some very trendy bars and there is one of the largest nigtclubs in Croatia about 5 minutes from the hotel - my husband loved this! you would not even know that it is there!
Anyway, we could reccommend it highly enough and we are heading back there again next year!
