In fact so good in 2004 that we're going back this year - 2007. Beautiful location. Excellent Hotel. Attentive yet not OTT staff. Pretty much on the flat. The sea was marred by algae when we were there last for which the Croatians blame the Italians. If you want to eat out its very good and inexpensive. Unfortunately the food at the hotel was so good that we only ate out occasionally. Istria is also a very short flight away. Porec is very green and the hotel site (on its own peninsula) can provide good shade from the sun beneath the pine trees - that is if you want some shade. And no I haven't been paid to write this report - well not yet anyway.

Location is wonderful, can't praise it enough. Hotel was the pits. Unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude staff. Our rooms (Two doubles) were dirty, dark ,small and in dire need of renovation. After a lot of hassle, the 4 of us females were moved to a modern apartment on 4th floor with fridge, air conditioning large balcony with fantastic view. Room would be great for a family but not 4 adults. Fold down settee is be ok for children. But hey! we just made the best of it. Porec is a fantastic place, would go back in a minute, but go to a more mordern hotel. xx

After much deliberation & research we settled on the Parentium for our 1st trip to Croatia. We were not disappointed ! With a half board package, we were quite prepared to eat out some nights expecting the food to be repetitive but it certainly was not - we only ate out one night! What a choice and always extremely good. The hotel boasts a superb location and its grounds with lawns and pine trees sloping down to the shore are a wonderful place to equally sunbath or watch the fantastic sunsets in a romantic setting! I like the fact that there were few Brits! A ferry runs every half hour into Porec town and its a lovely boat ride of about 20 mins cost about £1.50 - and you can get the speed taxi back for a little more! The bars and restuarants were plentiful in Porec and it is just the most picturesque town I have seen - we loved it and will be back!

I've stayed 2 nights end August 2006.

Although the hotel is very big (over 360 rooms) and not very recent (I believe this is a 70's building) it is well maintained. The bathroom has been recently renovated. As there are 2 doors in each room, noise isolation is good.

The hotel has a nice private beach. Sunbeds are available, but the hotel charges 20 Kuna (3 Euros) to use them. It has also 2 swimming pools, one open (adapted to young kids) the second is covered which is a good solution for rainy days. Sunbeds are free at the swimming pool.

The room I stayed in with my wife was of an average size. A small balcony provided limited view of the sea (through the trees). My son stayed in a single room, which was smaller and had no balcony. It's OK for a single, not for a couple. It's also a pity there's no fridge in rooms.

Regarding the food, I disagree with the previous opinion. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel (HB was mandatory). Both were excellent, both in terms of quality and variety of food. I've seldom seen such a selection of salads, meat, fish, stuffed vegetables etc. It's hard to remain reasonable on quantity.

As we had a rented car, we spent most of the 2 days exploring the coast (there's a lot to see). The hotel is 4 KM from Porec and is located at a hotel-only district. The tourist information brochure (not available at the hotel) says there's a walking path to Porec but I believe it should take more than 30 minutes to reach the center.

There's no air condition in rooms. This can be a problem if the weather is hot (which was not the case end August).

All in all, a decent hotel especially if you stay with your kids. I advise to check with the hotel that you get a room with balcony and not a small one (my son's room was located at the D section).
