Stayed here in May/June 2010 (and not 2012 as listed) as a family with one 5 year old. Plenty to do around the hotel and surrounding area for children and adults - pool(good to have indoor and outdoor), sea and sandy areas for children, crazy golf, children's play parks, water sports, tennis etc, hotel activities catered by the animation team. Son loved the disco and children's entertainment. Would recommend for people of all ages. Excellent place to hire bikes and cycle. Staff very friendly. Hotel a couple of miles on the outskirts of Porec, but it wasn't a problem. It's a lovely walk or you can ride the tourist train. Glourious walk into town as the sun sets or a post diner walk! There wasn't a supermarket that was very near, only in Porec itself, but it was okay for a few items required. Hired a car to visit glorious Motovun, Pulla and Rovinj, all worth a visit. Spectacular views from the village of Motovun. Rovinj very charming and mysterious. Pula arena was very interesting. Had a few days of showers but still plenty to do and it didn't dampen our spirits. May/June at beginning of season, so not too busy but slightly more chances of showers! Porec not as spectacular as Dubrovnik, but plenty to do in the area and still nevertheless charming. Would recommend a visit to the Euphrasian Basilica and also the Bell Tower, worth the climb! Plenty of boat trips available, the aquarium wasn't worth visiting, but may have improved since 2010. Excellent standards again by the Valamar chain. Excellent food and also in the surrounding restaurants. Plenty of choice. Having previously stayed at the Valamar Club Dubrovnik, we thought that the deal through Thomson holidays was better with the Valamar Club Dubrovnik with it being full board and local drinks with meals included. The Diamant was half board without drinks, but having said that, the standard of the food was much higher it must be said, even oysters one one night! We just found that the added drinks tab (juice for our son, water and a few bottles of wine for us) added up at the end, that was only really one of the negatives, but not a huge problem and wouldn't deter from revisiting. We found it difficult to find somewhere just to get a snack at lunch apart from the hotel pool bar, as the breakfast and dinner was very substantial. It would have been useful to be able to order a packed lunch to take out for the day as we previously made use of in the Dubrovnik Club. We have really enjoyed both our stays in Croatia, lovely people and glorious scenery without going where the masses of Brits go. Refreshing a different. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to the area and a stay at this hotel.
