There are many good hotels in Croatia i believe. At least I've seen one.
First of all location - 100m to the seashore, 15 minutes walk from Poreč center, when I'm saying walk, I mean walk, not run. We didn't have a sea view from our room but cypress grove was so peaceful. Especially in the evenings. But if you'd like to experience something romantic just go to the walk after the sunset - on the other side of the bay you'll see Poreč lights. And do not be afraid - it is totally safe!
Rooms aren't too big, maybe it is a question of price, anyway we enjoyed intimacy. Restaurant, bar and other facilities (like swimming pool) are clean and cozy, especially open terrace.
Cleaning personal was very friendly and polite. I cannot say the same about reception and restaurant management - they were EXTREMELY polite, friendly and helpful. My best wishes to Marko, Branko, Marinko, Vladimir, Ines, Eduardo (hush, he is the Boss ;) and all the rest. They make us feel like home. I can remember some ten episodes when they behaved more friendly than some of my relatives at their place.
Meal. Unfortunately evening drinks not included. Breakfast and dinner are served in smorgasbord style. Food is cooked well, and you can eat from 8 till 10 AM. Dinner from 7 to 9 PM. Bars are opened till 12PM.
In general, maybe it is not the most luxury and pretentious hotel you may see in Poreč area. But honestly comparing with 4-stars hotels in Vilnius (Lithuania) Crystal is better. You get the value for your money and pleasant memories which cannot be evaluated ;)
I would advice my friend to stay there.

We have just returned from our holiday at the crystal,so here is my review of the hotel and Porec.

BAD POINTS.
1. Hotel prices expensive.39kuna for a beer and coke. Add another 5 kuna tip and thats nearly a fiver for a small round.
2. Dining arrangements. Tables are together so you normally end up sharing you table with someone else.
3. Limited parasol cover near the pool. So the usual problem of people putting towels out early then not using their spot for some hours later.
4. bathrooms not upgraded as well as the rest of the bedroom area, but still clean.
5. Porec itself had quite a number of similar shops, selling caps bags and the usual tourist tat.

GOOD POINTS.
1. Absoloutely everything else.
2. Food excellent
3. hotel clean
4.Staff friendly
5. Pool brilliant
6. Rooms air conditioned
7 Porec lovely, great architecture and some lovely restaraunts.
8. Boat taxi back to the hotel for 40 kuna



Altogether a great holiday and I would definately go back to the same hotel again.
so if you have booked or are thinking of booking, it's a good standard 3 star hotel in a quiet area but a 10 to 15 minute stroll into Porec or get the tourist train, and treat yourself to the water taxi back.

In feb 08 we booked 7 night half board stay for May 2008. The details included free wine, beers and soft drinks with evening meals. On the first night we ordered red wine and beer and were presented witha bill for 46 Kuna. The restaurant manager
(quite a rude man) avised that they stopped doing it-no date given-and we should take it up with Thomas Cook. He also insisted that we pay him there and then for our drinks and that if we wanted water this would be 25Kuna a bottle.
Thomas Cook reps were new to the resort and hotel and whilst sympathetic did nothing to help.
This spoilt what was otherwise a very pleasant holiday. Hotel room excellent, food excellent, entertainment average,weather very wet but thats the chance you take going early in the season.
I would be interested in hearing from any other guests that booked half board with drinks at dinner and then had to pay extremely high prices in the hotel restaurant and bar

Unfortunately our initial room allocation had an ant problem, we were moved to another room and after this everything was fine overall. The hotel is located in a lovely green area surrounded by woodland. The hotel is very clean, staff friendly and helpful, food is of good standard but nothing special....entertainment is average and the same every night!

Walk into Porec takes around 15mins by quick route, or 30 mins by scenic wooded coastal route.

Would definately recommend a day trip across to Venice if you have never been as we had a lovely day. Porec is nice and has plenty of places to eat and drink....went to Pula to see the Roman ruins, and apart from this not much else there.
Rovinj is worth a visit, the old town is pretty with narrow cobbled backstreets leading up to the hilltop church.
The public buses are not very frequent at this time of year which can be a pain...and not that cheap either.

Overall our holiday was lovely but unfortunately was tainted by awful weather....we went in mid May and 5 out of 7 days we had rain!
