“Electronics were a hassle & sheets were stained”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Ok, but could have been better for 5 nights. The air conditioning unit did not work and neither did the washer. The internet was a hassle, since the information provided was not correct. I had to figure out the password as the owner was not sure. The Wi-Fi disconnected often. The dryer unit worked fine. We also had to clean up the previous guest’s laundry as they left it in the dryer. The bed sheets and comforter had stains on them. These were obvious white stains on the inside part of the black comforter. You also better be fast in the shower as the hot water does not last long. My friend and I had to wait 45min+ in between showers. The beds were also not comfortable and not cable or remotes for the TV’s in the rooms. Small for the money spent. Find something bigger at a cheaper price. Owner was nice though.

Room Tip: Bring extra bed sheets. I always bring a fitted and flat sheet from my previous experiences.

My husband and I stayed 1 night at TC Marko before hiking in Plitvice Lakes National Park. Since we had a rental car, the short drive from TC Marko to the park was not a problem, and we were given very good advice by the reception clerk regarding the best way to hike the park, where to park, when to go, etc. We visited in October, and the weather was not ideal, so we were seemingly the only guests in the whole lodge. Our room was quite large, very clean, and very comfortable. We had wi-fi and a TON of TV channels to choose from, including some in English. One word of caution: the TV package included adult programming, so beware if traveling with children not to let them control the remote. We ate dinner and breakfast in the on-site restaurant, and both were hearty, tasty meals. We enjoyed our stay, and even though the place was a bit deserted, the service was good, and we were very comfortable.

We only stayed one night, so didn't have chance to experience the place. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was quite good, although if you were having B&B like we were, you had to pay for any cup of coffee after the first one. Couldn't really figure this one out when the main ingredient is hot water which is already in the jug. Even so, the service was good, as was the evening meal. It must be OK if all the locals seem to use it.
The only really negative aspect of the stay, and yes, I should have seen it on ther booking form, was that we had to pay in cash.Aaarrrgghh!!! There was a dozen of us, six couples, and I was doing all the settling up of the bills. This meant I had to trail down the road for three or four kms to find a cash machine. This is 2012, and I think they should modernise this side of the business.

TC Marko
When you stay for a night in the place like this in late autumn, and especially if you are the only client, you expect that they will treat you correctly. That is not what happened to me. The room wih TV but without any channel.
WiFi in the public zone all day. The problem is that the public zone is only the restaurant that closes at 22.00 so I was asked to leave the restaurant and what to do? Go to the average looking 2* hotel room without TV. Great!
So, my advice is : go to another place where they will treat you like human beeing. I cannot find one reason whyvthis place would be better than another one of the same value. And of course, I can found few reasons why this place is worst.

We stayed 2 nights to visit the parc. The hostess (Christina) made extra effort to arrange access to the caves and advised about parc details in such a way we got something extra out of our experience. That was super!
The restaurant however, should be avoided. Clumsy staff and under average food without any presentation, a poor breakfast and a non-cozy space lead you to alternatives in the surroundings.
Also, avoid the 3 person room on the ground floor. The bathroom is so small, it does not even have a proper door, and we had to fix the shower before we could use it.

This tourist centre is about 10 miles from the lakes and is the perfect place to stay. Room was great with a fantastic breakfast. Staff were extremely helpful. The restaurant made great food in the evening (there is not much else around though). Free parking but no WiFi.

I can't add much to the other reviews as far as the amenities on the property. I do want to add that the folks here saved what could have been a disasterous trip to Plitvice. Long story short, we were dropped off WAY past TC Marko by an ornery bus driver, bascially leaving us stranded in unknown parts. Calling with our last ounce of battery on our cell, the folks at TC Marko immediately said not to worry and they came and picked us up. The weather in September was suppossed to be in the 70's, but we spent almost a week in the low 40's and pouring rain. They called the owner and got the heat turned on for us. We had thought the park was in walking distance or we could get a bus - neither is true - so they rented us one of their own cars. Overall, the people at TC Marko made what could have been a terrible experience a positive one - I am sorry it took me a year to write this review. Thanks!
