We stayed two nights at the Jezero hotel as part of a 10 night holiday in Slovenia/Croatia.
The Jezero is a large hotel with 200+ rooms, and is very much geared for coach parties of elderly tourists.
The rooms were basic, but comfortable, and very quiet at night.
Both the evening meal and the breakfast were very disappointing. The quality of the food was poor, and the service was very slow, with a team of waiters and waitresses drawn from the local population of surly teenagers, who seemed more interested in throwing cereal at each other than serving guests. The poor quality of the food would not have been such a problem if there were other restaurants in the area, but as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, it has a captive market and is sadly over-reliant on this.
The hotel felt like it had not seen a refurb since the mid 80s. Many of the function rooms and bars were closed off, and the large swimming pool would benefit from a lick of paint and turning up the heating a notch. The hallways and public areas smelt of cheap cleaning fluid - as found in schools and hospitals.
Positives?? The hotel was ideally located for exploring the Plitvice lakes, the bar staff were friendly and generous with their spirit measures, and room rates were very reasonable. The enormous stuffed bear in the reception area also raised a smile.
I can't help thinking that this hotel could achieve so much more if it improved its quality of food, service and public areas, and increased its prices accordingly. The hotel is in a great location and has great potential to improve.
