“Great location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

This is an above average - average hotel! The rooms are nice size and a great view but they are quite Spartan and the entire hotel seems a little institutional. However, the service is great, people very friendly, the breakfast and fixed dinners a good bargain and nicely prepared and you can't beat the location which is just a short walk from the park's entrance. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again without hesitation.

As part of our car touring of Croatia we stayed at this hotel before exploring the Plitvice NP the next day. It's best to arrive in the daylight because the roads are not obvious and parking is tight. Our GPS was invaluable. Huge spaces in the public areas and lots of steps and no elevators, but everything was neat and clean. This hotel was designed in the Jugoslavia era for sure. Our room was large and comfortable and the window opened for fresh air. Dinner was actually quite good. Breakfast was great. Since you are out in the Park, there are no other restaurants nearby.
We checked out in the morning but left our car in the parking lot and walked down to the Park, about 10 minutes. Took the tram to the highest spot in the Park and then walked down to the lowest on amazing pathways. Waterfalls everywhere. There is a boat ride halfway and then more falls. Don't miss the last fall down a dead-end path before you cross the river to start back up. Then you climb out and take the tram back to the start. Really wonderful.

We were extremely happy with our stay at the hotel. We had a standard room which consisted of a queen sized bed with bed and base (rare from our experience so far in this country) and very comfortable, better than we had expected given its rating. The room wasn't huge, but had a desk style ledge across the length of the window which was useful, with nice views of the park even on the ground floor. The TV was older style and small, a variety of channels but only BBC in English. There was also a minibar. Bathroom was older style, vanity was a good size but shower quite compact. We had a full board option which made the hotel rate very good value for money. Lunch was the best meal of the day, with choice of soup, main and dessert from the main restaurant menu, extremely high quality. Dinner was a much more restrictive menu and dishes more the style you expect from this type of deal. Service at lunch and dinner was extremely professional, the dining room very large, nicely furnished and had a good ambiance considering the large numbers of diners it caters for. Breakfast buffet was of good quality and had most items you would expect, but not much variety. There is a very spacious lobby area and several separate public sitting areas and a small bar. The public areas are quite attractive, spacious with lots of windows and overlook the park. This hotel is in the national park, it seems only 3 are, a short walk to entrance 2. If you come by public transport you need to stay in the park near entrance 2 as this is where the bus stops, otherwise there doesn't seem to be any easy way to get to other locations other than calling a taxi. There is a village 3 Kms away, but walking is not ideal as it is a winding highway style road with no footpath, so can be dangerous, especially with luggage. This hotel is ideal and from the outside looks to be a better option than the Bellevue. The staff were very helpful, there is a small shop which opens at various times of the day selling souvenirs and some toiletry items. Within the park there are other cafe options but we didn't see any other shops. There is free wifi in the hotel lobby as well as a guest computer. The signal isn't very good and we could mostly only get email and Facebook to work. Very difficult to get web sites up, even on the computer. We had a tele2 sim in our iPad, it also wouldn't work whilst we were there.

The hotel is mediocre and the food is mediocre to poor. The breakfast was the best meal and came with the room. One is definitely stuck here, but the access to the park is just a short walk down the hill.

Staying in Plitvice National Park is worth the worn and amenity-poor aspects of this hotel. Unlike many Croatian hotels, this hotel provided a regular mattress and box spring for a bed. That was a welcome relief since hiking without a good night's sleep is not much fun. The bathroom had a high, granite vanity with lots of space. The windows opened and the room had adequate space. Unfortunately, wi-fi was available in in the lobby and was painfully slow. There is no elevator, so anyone above the ground floor must haul their luggage up the stairs. There is a large dining room for breakfast and supper, and the food was acceptable. One issue was the fact that for a dining room which seated hundreds of people for breakfast, there was only one coffee machine which brewed each individual cup and caused a long line to form. The hotel appears to have been built with customary Communist sterility and needs a facelift for the 21st century. That said, being so close to the park's trails and having decent beds makes it tolerable.

This hotel was convenient for entering the park. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. We had a small refrigerator in our room. There is a free parking lot. Breakfast is included and included the usual hot and cold selections along with juices and coffee. The building is overall very sterile looking.
