“we would love to stay here again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

We were traveling through the Lakes region and stayed one night. The location is exceptionally good for the Lakes. The room and hotel in general was exceptionally clean and neat. We three stayed in a very cute attic room with a marvelous view and very comfortable beds. The buildings are relatively new and use native rock in their design in a very innovative manner. Our sheets smelled of the fresh air in which they had been hung after laundering - very special. We valued the fact that the hotel is run in a very environmentally conscious manner.

Breakfast was generous and had nice options with the owner right there to take care of any requests or needs. Dinner was delicious - we had the trout and another of us the mixed meat choice. We would choose to eat cinner here again without question.

The staff are all family - Alexandar serves as receptionist. Her english is excellent and she is welcoming and very pleasant. After I told her that part of our trip involved biking for several days I promised her I would let her know that we three "survived" our 6 day bike trip on Hvar and Brac' islands - we not only survived but we thrived on it - it was wonderful! So, Alexandar, give biking another try...but to start pick a short and relatively flat bike route - it is a wonderful way to see the countryside and Croatian drivers are very nice to bikers!

All in all we would love to stay here again and use it as our home in exploring the beautiful countryside around the hotel and the Lakes.

Room Tip: we did not try out the swimming pool or the sauna. We enjoyed having a picnic lunch using the picni...

We stayed here for two nights for our visit to Plitvice. The room and bathroom were clean and to a good standard. The bed was comfortable enough, but a little hard. Wifi worked well in the rooms. Only down side is they run an early schedule. Breakfast is from 7-9am and check out is at 10am so sleeping in isn't really an option. One morning, we decided to skip breakfast and snooze until 11am. At about 10:30, we had a knock on our door asking if we wanted clean towels which was a little disruptive to our sleeping in plan! Also, they only take cash payment.

Stayed for 2 nights here and was really glad I booked this.
Having spent some time on hotel websites I was aware that the hotels around Plitvice all looked quiet dated and had cheesy 80's holiday feel and decor (from website images).

Ethno house is more like an Agritourism as it feels like you staying in cosy lodgings, the room we stayed in was large and up a few floors so we had the sloping exposed pine beams. In the picture it was the high up room on facing the road.

The room was all pine inside with a very modern clean bathroom.

There was a nice buzz about the place with people sitting out in the evening. We didnt as first night we arrived quiet late from Dubrovnik and second we were tired after day in Plitvice.

Only disappointment was the breakfast, on one morning I thought I'd missed it as there was very little eggs and sausages left, and limited cooked meats and cheese. The next morning got up earlier and it was the same, plus the coffee machine wasnt the greatest. Not enough to sustain you a morning in Pltivice.

Location very good for Plitvice entrance, a few minutes by car. Cant imagine anyone staying up here without own transport.

Room Tip: Seen other rooms when they were been cleaned, and definitely recommend rooms on the top with the sla...

We stayed here for two nights, using Ethno House as a base to see the Park.
The location is pretty good for entrance 2 into the park, we drove from here to the entrance in 5 minutes.
The breakfast was ok, cereals, cold meats, scrambled eggs; overall nothing special but adequate.
We had dinner here on the second night and again the food was average. You have the choice between meat and fish. We both had trout and I can't complain, it tasted fine.
The room was clean and comfortable and it is quiet enough to sleep when the window is closed so I would have no issue with this.
But unfortunately the service in this place means we left disappointed.
Considering that most people staying here will be using the accommodation to visit the park I was expecting that they would provide you with information on routes to take and where to buy tickets etc. On top of all of this the reception you get is unfriendly and cold. It seems that there is two sisters running the place and they come across as being uninterested.
Overall I could not recommend this place as I am sure there has to be other places in equally decent locations but offering better service.

This is a good bet for the night if you have a car. We liked the breakfast and the rooms--very clean & cozy with ac and a great shower for tall people. We stayed two nights which I don't think is necessary if you are on a tight schedule. I would just get up for the 7am breakfast and leave the same day. There is more of an anonymous hotel feel here and less Croatian charm than other places we have been. With a car, there are a number of good places to eat dinner about 7-9 ks down the road to the left at a fraction of the cost if you are looking to save money or you are a vegetarian.

We stayed in Plitvice Ethno House - like everybody - to discover the Plitvice lakes. The hotel is a great starting point to do so, as it's close to entrance 2 (the one more suitable for long walks). The helpful and friendly staff helped make our stay comfortable and enjoyable by providing dinner and drinks onsite, as well as a pool to rest tired legs.

We felt very welcome. At the time we were there, the other guests were really nice as well.

The only bad thing was our bathroom, which was a little cramped, especially compared to the room.

Nice place to stay into the wild, close to a secondary entrance to the park, is a very suggestive location. You can also eat something for dinner at ten euro (pasta or meat) but please mind that you will pay extra for any drink. In the end a very pleasant experience
