Initial impression of the hotel was that it was pretty swanky but this sheen soon wore off when we entered our Double Sea View room. We were immediately overcome by the smell from bad drainage which had been unsuccessfully masked by an extremely noxious amount of air freshener. In an attempt to bring in fresh air we opened our window to find not so much of a sea view as we were led to believe...one would need to strain one's neck considerably to get any glimpse of the sea from that room. The room itself was generally clean which was a plus.
If you're looking for a lively place to stay then this is definitely not the place for you. When we entered the dining room in the evening we clearly lowered the average age considerably...I'd say by 3 decades. The Marko Polo is most definitely the hotel of choice for Saga and their equivalent group holidays.
Wouldn't recommend the half-board option (I think this was the only option we were given on Expedia.) The evening selection was mediocre and canteen like. Breakfast proved slightly better.
Overall I would say this is quite overpriced but hardly a surprise given the few hotels in the area. I'd say go with a Sobe (guest house) option if you look to stay in Korcula. I think you would get better value for money and a more authentic island experience.
P.S. I think they've used a little artistic license with their photo used on such internet websites!
