“Probably the best situated hotel in Korcula”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed in the hotel for 9 nights during our summer holiday 2014. We chose and booked ourselves double bed room with balcony and seaside/Korcula town view. It's really worth it, because the rooms on the other side of the hotel have a view to the parking lot. Hotel Liburna has probably the best position in Korcula. It's quiet place and it takes just 5-10 minutes walk to the old town. View from the hotel to Korcula town is amazing. Hotel beach is a few steps from the front of the hotel and is made from concrete plates between the rocks. Access to the sea is easy from the stone stairways. Hotel beach wasn't overcrowded by people, so we could always find a place for sunbathing and relaxing. When you swim, you can enjoy the view to Korcula and Peljesac peninsula mountains. There is also circular outdoor pool with sea water where you can use beds and umbrellas. Breakfast buffet was great with wide choice of food. Dinner buffet was fantastic with so many different kind of meal, that we were always maximum satisfied. If you come by car, there can be problem to find free space. There wasn't Wi-Fi connection in our room, but we could use Wi-Fi in the reception area.

Room Tip: Choose room with seaside view.

We have just got back from a weeks stay here . We stopped in cavtat last year and the hotel was appalling . However we was very happy in korcula and thats thanks to this hotel . Our room was massive and included an upstairs and was spotless . The food was fresh and varied and i was very happy to see they had traditional dalmation cuisine on the menu . The staff was lovely , welcoming and helpful . The pool had sea water in and was amazing for the skin . The gardens were well tended . We had 2 balconies and both had amazing views .
Best of all when we checked out the staff had made us a packed lunch which was so thoughtful and sweet . 10 out of 10 .
Thank you so much hotel liburna , hope to see you again soon . Especially amazing staff in restraunt and the bell boy.
Hvala xxxx

We stayed for 2 weeks in September this year and had a really great holiday. Do not dismiss this hotel from the reviews you may read, it is tired and dated but it is being modernised over the winter.

The location is excellent, paid for a sea view room and that is definitely worth it - Room 117 - overlooked the harbour and the view was superb.

The bedrooms are dated but very clean and roomy and they do require some new beds - I am assured that they are coming. Maids very efficient.

The restaurant makes this hotel - the food is very very good particularly when you consider it is currently only rated a 3 star. The Restaurant Manager, Fatom and his staff, are superb. Very friendly, helpful and efficient.

I must also mention Anna on reception she is also very helpful and friendly.

I would stay here again if I was going back to Korcula - I like to always go somewhere new. Well worth the visit and yes the transfer is long but treat it as part of the holiday as you see lots of the coast.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room well worth the extra money. Try Steps in the town for the Pizza - excellent an...

Stayed 11 nights end of Aug. I did a minimal amount of "homework" on Korcula & this hotel, incldg reading several of the reviews & it was obvious that journey from airport was going to be a long one! We had a taxi xfer, via Jet2, & were the only occupants. It was lovely seeing all the coast in the setting sunlight & only got a bit boring after dark came. Then we had lovely, exciting (in the dark) ferry trip & a short drive to hotel.Could'nt have organised it better,or cheaper, ourselves.Similar enjoyable return journey, daylight this time.
I agree with prev contributor "Helen C". Its not just the scenic beauty of the view but that its constantly changing with ships, boats of all kinds moving to & fro (includg night time when their lights twinkle on the water) Also people swimming & moving on the little beach & activity round the jetty area- fascinating!
As vegetarians, we enjoyed the food- always a fish or egg mains option with lots of lovely salads etc. Yes, agreed , not much entertainment, lots of areas (bars)closed but some other bars within approx 5 mins walk- one with a very talented singer on most nights, we enjoyed a nightcap there listening to him on our way back from old town (approx 10 mins walk from hotel)
The only real "con" for me was the amount of steps I had to climb up,or down, both in hotel & walk into town ,but, then, we are both in our mid 70s so prob not a problem to younger ones, & the exercise prob did me good as did the sea swimming which was brilliant
I can see the long journey would not be good for people with children but I'd love to return & feel the Liburna position isperfect

Room Tip: Definitely pay extra for sea view, made my hol

At no time was I told that there was a 3 hour transfer from Dubronik Airport, I was under the
impression I was staying a short water taxi ride from Dubronik. I was not on my own in this
assumption everyone regardless of tour company was under the same impression. It needs to
be made clear that there is a 3 hour transfer time. The hotel is dated and lacks any sort of entertainment. There is a bar and it was never open whilst we were there. The food is dismal.

Room Tip: ask for one without stairs.

I read the reviews before I went ... and its true the hotel is somewhat outdated and I can imagine in the middle of summer the lack of aircon being an issue. HOWEVER ... wow what a view, this hotel cannot be beaten for position overlooking the beautiful old town of Korcula. It is spotlessly clean and I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the way they looked after me whilst I was ill out there.

If you care passionately that your bowl matches your bath or that the style of the hotel is cutting edge then this is not the hotel for you, but if you are looking for understated but efficient and genuine service not to mention fabulous views then give the Liburna a chance. I understand that an 'upgrade' is imminent so it will be interesting to see the changes.

Room Tip: A little extra for the sea view is without hesitation worth it.

We booked a standard double room and were given a large two tier room with balconies on either side. The bedroom was upstairs with a rather small double bed and a single. It was not possible to push the beds together. Single mattress was very soft, double mattress okay, but not enough room for two to sleep comfortably. Rooms were cleaned daily, but the cleaning product smell was rather overpowering and there was a smelly bin odour coming from the staff stairwell - yeuch.
Breakfasts were okay and plentiful, It is well positioned, a short walk along the front to Old Korcula Town.
We wouldn't chose to stay in the Liburna again.
