LOCATION: Perfect! Steps from the main town center, but far enough away to avoid the crowds.
BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Bed was a little on the hard side, but still comfortable. Sheets were of very high quality and pillows were soft, thin, and comfortable.
LIGHTING: Excellent in both bedroom and bathroom.
BATHROOM/SHOWER: Very good with adequate water pressure. Everything seems very new.
TOILETRIES: Good stuff, probably good enough to take home.
CLEANLINESS: Bathroom and bedroom were extremely clean.
A/C: Quiet and got the room cool quickly. Made a very loud popping sound during the night both mornings we were there. Turning it off stopped the sound.
CLOSET SPACE: More than enough space for 2.
STYLE OF ROOM: Nothing luxurious but one of the most comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in. The room was huge with a separate living room area. We had apartment 4 which looks much nicer in person than the hotel website. There is a view of the marina from the bedroom window but the higher floor rooms probably have a very impressive view.
QUIET/LIGHT:
FOOD: Breakfast selection was minimal. Choice of 3 cereals, ham, croissants, yoghurt, and eggs. Coffee is mediocre.
TV/INTERNET: Large flat screen TV. Satellite TV with hundreds of stations (only 3 in English and all of them are news). Wireless in the rooms is available at no cost and is extremely fast with an excellent connection. There is a computer available in the lobby for use at no charge. The room has a DVD player and movies are available at no charge from reception (get them before they close at 8PM and grab a few since they are copies and some are barely watchable).
SERVICE: Staff is very helpful and polite. Amazingly let us check out at 4PM at no extra cost! Only complaint here is that they only sent one person to meet us at the ferry dock and we had 2 huge bags meaning I had to carry one up the 15-20 steps myself. If you want help with bags, be sure to specify that you may need more than one person there. They let us check out at 4PM with no extra charge… unheard of!
COMMON AREA: Nice, but not really an area that you will want to hang out in. The rooms are so perfect for that!
TIPS: Finding a simple sandwich for lunch was difficult. There is a prosciutto sandwich that is supposed to be the best in town near the bus stop (there are anchovies out front). Walking down the steps from the palace hotel the first restaurant/bar on the left has some excellent sandwiches and a burger. Not less expensive than the others, but a good simple lunch option. This is clearly the best option in Hvar unless you want to be in one of the hip hotels in which you will sacrifice room space and pay more. I would rather have a more comfortable, larger room, and then hang out at the Adrian, Riva, etc. than stay there. This place is not luxurious but it so comfortable and homely that it is the only place I would choose next visit to Hvar.
