The Adriana is a sleek, modern hotel in an excellent harborside location that makes it worth tolerating its shortcomings. I think it's the best location in Hvar; having breakfast on the sunny patio a few feet from the harbor's edge every morning was delightful, as was enjoying a nightcap at the upstairs bar with a gorgeous view. We visited mid-September after the summer party crowd had subsided, so were pleasantly surprised not to be troubled by noise.
The first thing to note is that you should specify a "sea view" room if you want one of the rooms directly facing the harbor, which I would recommend. We booked a "harbor view" room which, turns out to be a room terraced back along the side of the hotel with an angled window at the far end of the room peeking out to the harbor. Crazy - and nowhere on the hotel's website can you get an accurate description of these room options. The room was dark, and you had to stand in the far corner to even look out the window - not the light-filled view room we expected. We expressed our disappointment and were told to check back in the morning, as the hotel was full. We did, and to her credit the manager made every effort to offer us alternatives - we looked at another "harbor view" room on the south side that had an even worse view but did offer a small balcony; we ended up staying on the north side but moving one room closer to the front of the hotel,so our view was much better.
The room itself is minimalist, comfortable enough but the bathroom is tiny and inconvenient - the countertop runs behind the shower stall, making access awkward, and opening the shower door fills the tiny space in front of the sink and you can't keep the bath mat in place. The hair dryer is across the hall in the closet, so you use the mirror on the door to do your hair. There is a good amount of closet and shelf space, and a separate toilet room. Most challenging,is figuring out where to hang wet swimsuits etc. to dry - the shower cubicle is enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass panels and offered almost nothing to attach a clothesline to, and there was little space in the rest of the tiny bath area.
Breakfast was good. The buffet offered a good assortment of the usual items, supplemented by a menu of hot items cooked to order.
The hotel's location is excellent, right on the main harbor, around the other side from where the catamarans dock. A 10-minute walk to its sister property, the Amfora, where there are some good beaches. Note that for some reason the TripAdvisor map incorrectly shows the Adriana some distance away from the center of town, in a completely different location.
Overall, I was pleased with our choice of hotel and enjoyed our time on Hvar very much.
Book a "sea view" not a "harbor view" to get a room on the front side looking at...
