This is a very tardy review - I intended to write this 1 year ago, but the reason that I have come back to thi site is that I want to go back to stay with Mr Petricic again. My girlfriend treated me to a week in Hvar in the summer of 2011 for my birthday as she had fallen in love with the place when she stopped off there on her way back from the Garden Festival in Zadar. She was going on and on about how beautiful the place was, and I have to say she wasn't wrong. Hvar town and the whole island for that matter is quite simply stunning. The food is out of this world, the wine is gorgeous and the people are incredibly friendly. Sitting by the harbour until the small hours getting slowly drunk watching the people go by is not a bad way to spend an evening.
Anyway, onto Pansion Petricic itself. Firstly, what a lovely man! He picked us up from the harbour at midnight in his battered old golf wearing flip flops and shorts and although he didn't speak much English he was a good communicator and a lovely guy. Over the next week I never saw him in anything other than flip flops and shorts and concluded that Mr Petricic has a nice life.Coming into the Pension at night is a great way to start the holiday as nothing can prepare you for the view you will get from your balcony in the morning. At the time he also had one of the largest and friendliest dogs I have ever seen - A Belgian Shephard called Arix - he is more of a bear really. On our 2nd day my girlfiend told Mr Petricic that it was my birthday and when we got back from the beach that day, his wife had baked me a birthday cake. I mean you don't need to say anymore than that really. The effort that this man and his wife went to in order for us to feel welcome was amazing. He is also very useful in recommending days out and helped us hire a boat for the day to go on a tour of Palmizanes islands which I highly recommend. The accomodation itself is basic, but spotlessly clean. If you are after somewhere with marble showers and flat screen TV's this isn't for you, but if you are looking for a really friendly base to explore the beauty of Hvar, then try and stay here.
The only reason I have written this review (because I really don't want ti publicis how nice Hvar is as it will be full of drunk Brits in football tops) is that my girlfriend and I are getting married next week and are returning to Hvar and will stay again with Pansion Petricic.
