We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights at the beginning of September.
We were in room 201 which had a good balcony and sea view. We found the room to be modern and comfortable and it was kept spotlessly clean. The air conditioning was efficient.
The receptionists are friendly and very helpful and speak good English. We found the Continental breakfast very satisfactory.
On the downside the hotel is a 15 minute walk from the harbour in Hvar Town, longer with suitcases on a hot day also there is no lift in the hotel. Needless to say on our departure we took a taxi to the harbour.
The walk to the harbour area is a along the coast and traffic free and makes a pleasant stroll of an evening when going out to the numerous restaurants in Hvar. However there are some hotel restaurants near the Pharia.

I stayed in hotel Pharia with my girlfriend for 3 nights in the beginning of September, while visiting Hvar for a friend's wedding and booked the apartment (all normal rooms were all booked). Price, over 100 euros per night.

The bedroom is small but adequate and the bed is fine. The other room (living room?) has a small sofa and a TV and that is it. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots & pans, a fridge, an oven with stove, and cutlery. The bathroom with shower is very small, also spotless.

Pros:
- The rooms are very clean -spotless actually- and well taken care of
- The location is good, just 50 meters from the coast, about 15 minutes walk to the center of Hvar, and on the way there are many nice small beaches to swim in
- Small super market very close by

Cons:
- The rooms have absolutely no amenities, no soap, no shower cap, no shampoo (thank God they offer toilet paper)
- The room balcony is so small that there is barely room for 2 people to sit in the plastic chairs
- The apartment price (100 euros for 3* is not cheap for Croatia) does not include breakfast!
- The breakfast which closes at 09:30(!) is inadequate with an extremely small selection and low quality food
- The windows have light curtains and no shutters which means that the morning sun comes pouring into the room hence destroying any chance of sleeping late
- Very small bathroom
- No view of the sea from the lower floors

Overall, the Pharia is nothing to write home about and I would probably suggest looking for something better. Friends staying at the Amphora were very happy.

The Pharia was the worst room I had on a two week stay in Europe. I stayed in rooms rented by private indivduals in Split that were twice as nice as the rooms at the Pharia. The rooms have no amenities at all. No fan or ventilation. I paid 65 euro for a single room. Private rooms are nicer and cheaper. There is no beach at Hvar but excellent nightlife.

My family and I stayed at the Hotel Pharia recently. We found the place to the clean and the staff to be extremely helpful. It is a little bit of a walk to the city center of Hvar, but the walk is beautiful, with lots of beach spots to take a dip along the way.

Decent and reasonably priced accommodation seems to be difficult to find in Hvar. At the moment, many of the hotels seem to be going through refurbishment eg. Adriatic, Amfora and Slavija, the latter of which will be the new Riva Hotel. I would like to think that our reviews have prompted the refurbs as the reports I have read of most of the hotels are fairly damning and having been to Hvar I can see why.

However, after lots of research, I eventually decided to stay in Pharia Aparthotel. It was renovated in 2003. We had an apartment with separate kitchen (very well equiped), lounge, bedroom, bathroom (shower only) and balcony. All the rooms are modern, smart and clean. The staff are very friendly. I paid £66/night for the apartment and going by the prices of what I consider to be very down market hotels in Hvar, this was very good value. The location isn't perfect as it is not on or around Hvar harbour like some of the other hotels, but it is a very nice walk around the coast along an attactive path and only takes 10-15 mins. I would recommend this hotel.
