“Great location, average hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

When arriving in to Hvar the Palace Hotel is one of the first you will see due to it's great location and the architecture at the front of it.

Myself and 3 friends stayed there for 4 nights. We had booked 2 rooms with 2 single beds but when arriving at the rooms we noticed we had been given double beds. We spoke to the receptionist and she apologised but explained that there were no other rooms for us. I don't know if this was a fault of the hotel or the booking website but it was quite disappointing. The company that owns the hotel also owns other hotels in Hvar and the receptionist very kindly tried to find rooms for us there but the rooms were quite expensive. The receptionist then offered us a family room which was a room with 2 single beds which was adjoined to a room with a drop down sofa. We decided to go with this, 3 of us in room and 1 had a big double bed to themselves!

This wasn't an ideal start but the receptionist was very helpful, as were the other staff we encountered on our stay.

The rooms don't have air con but have a big fan, the rooms were quite warm. Also I feel the rooms could do with modernising, the decor looked about 30 years old.

The great aspect of this hotel is the location, right next to the waterfront, restaurants everywhere you turn and lively bars just a stones throw away. Breakfast can be had indoors or out on the balcony which gives impressive views of the harbour. The quality of the breakfast was excellent.

The Palace Hotel was average and nice but if I was to come back to Hvar I would probably spend a bit more money and stay in another hotel.

And I definitely want to come back to Hvar!

First off there is no air conditioning. The room we were shown was small, dark and dull facing a wall. We left without checking in. The location is fine, facing the harbour and the square which is party central.

It's perfect location. We had a great view from the room. Rooms are clean, and bed is comfortable . Staff at the reception was helpfull and they told us where to go and what to see on the island. At that time there was the manager, and she also took some time and had a drink with us at the terrace. Really pleasent.

Hotel is set on the sea, facing the docks and boats, which makes for a beautiful breakfast view. Rooms are standard European rooms, some with two twins and some with queen beds. Bathrooms are small but doable and include nice toiletries for use. Staff is overly friendly and helpful and come ready with recommendations and tips for restaurants, sights and ferry trips. Breakfast will suit both European and American needs and is a delightful start to the morning out on the terrace.

Rooms are a bit noisy and expensive, but that's to be expected on a busy and popular party island. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view on the second floor. I was in room 213 and it had a lovely view with a balcony an...

Staff at front desk were wonderful. views were wonderful. All other aspects were poor. Bedroom furniture was white plastic; restaurant staff were snarley(except one gentleman who was very responsive); foodedicore at best;silverware was dirty. Being industrial strength ear plugs for the night time noise. PS no air conditioning. This place needs an over-haul and new management.

The location of the hotel is great. Except if you want to sleep at night, it's just in the center of all the partying, so expect noise until very late. Breakfast is very good, and the view from the terrace is lovely. My room on the top floor was old fashioned, with old carpet and the bathroom looked and smelled like a hospital, it was ok nevertheless. Price is too high for the room's quality. Staff are very friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side (not sea side) are quieter
