My Husband and I have just returned from the Bonaca. Although the hotel is quite basic, everything else makes up for it. The rooms are in blocks around the grounds, when we opened our front door, we had a mountain view, and our back door led on to a small balcony, which provided a distant sea view. We were surrounded by beautiful scenery. The birds were always singing in the trees/pine forests (including the dawn chorus!). It was such a relaxed atmosphere. The beds were so comfy (sprung matresses) The hotel was very clean, the food was nice, the choice was good. We have experienced better all inclusives, but there is more to a holiday than the food!! The pool area was clean and attractive, but our concern was that the different levels and steps (which didn't have handrails or markings), could be a hazard to people with sight / walking difficulties (or had too much to drink!) The entertainment team were lovely, they worked very hard all day and evening! Infact, all but a few of the staff at the hotel, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had different Nationality guests, but it's the best one we have stayed at, where the atmosphere between eveyone was so good. It was wonderful ! Brac and the resort of Bol were beautiful, we loved the town of Bol, with it's dear harbour, shops. bars and restaurants. The architecture is historic / rustic and very Venetian. This can be reached easily, by walking along a lovely coastal promenade, this same promenade will also take you to the Golden Horn, which is beautiful. The sea is so clear with different colour blues, the beaches are pebble but lovely. Everything is so scenic (beware.....you will take hundreds of photos!) The resort can be as relaxing (wellbeing centres/spa's) or as active as you want. You can do Kayaking, Diving, Windsurfing, Tennis, Cycling, Hiking. You can even hire a boat to explore the other islands, or for the less adventurous, you can use the ferries (Croatia has at least 1,200 islands!) We would recommend a trip across to Split, for History and shopping. And we strongly recommend a day to Dubrovnik as it is so beautiful and interesting. The trip is a long one, but the scenery en route gives you a chance to see, just how lovely Croatia is! And you can't leave the Country without having seen Dubrovnik ! Overall, a truly memorable holiday. And yes, we would go back, but tend not to repeat (too much world and not enough time (or money) to explore it !!!)
