“Charming place and lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We arrived in Baisha after a long day of travel. It rained a lot when we got there, so the road construction or whatever they were doing to the road made it 80% mudd and 20% water, although it looks like they're getting it fixed soon. When we got a bit lost and called the hotel, Charlie Lee came to our rescue. His english is almost perfect and he seemed so happy and kind hearted even though the rain (and our luggage which he took for us) was heavier than heavy. During our stay he invited us to drink tea with him all the time, and he suggested us to go on a hike with him and his friend in the closest mountain to a lake on the other side. It was deffinately a day to remember, them being so nice and buying us local dishes and beer and just practicing their English. The hotel is lovely, it is just as beautiful as in the pictures, even though there was no door to the bathroom, and the hotel was loud as hell - we could hear everything our neighbours talked about, but that is the only thing that you hear, neighbours, dogs, chickens and cows. Charlie Lee was deffinately the top of our stay. He is the sweetest person you could ever meet, and if you asks for anything he will do whatever he can to make you happy.

In Baisha village, so quiet at night you can hear just barking dogs. Stars at night on display.
Little english spoken and when owner Charlie came it made a difference, but we felt they were pressuring too much to do a trip with them. Room had some teething problems with drainage, smells. Aside from this, OK, for a night in a village.

Room Tip: facing the mouuntain

This resort was undergoing renovations, but the English-speaking staff made me (travelling single) feel like family. Helen was a great help, tirelessly showing me around charming (despite all the tourists) Lijiang town and district. She even accompanied me and a local guide on a quite strenuous hike over the nearby mountain range to another village. The resort is located in a village of the same name: Baisha is 10km outside Lijiang town and further to get to from the airport, but this turns out to be an advantage - the resort is part of an authentic, unspoiled Chinese village set amid spectacular mountain ranges and so far barely touched by mass tourism. As a bonus, the village hosts an embroidery academy housing exhibits of vivid colours and extraordinary beauty - highly recommended (believe me, it's nothing like the embroidery hanging on granny's wall). I would recommend staying at Baisha to anyone.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor. The views are magnificent.

Thanks a lot for your review . Our resort is in Baisha Old Town , which is away from Lijiang , so it's quite peaceful and relaxing . The resort is just at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain . If you stay in our resort , you can sit on the balcony appreciating the view of snow mountain . There're restaurant and bar in our resort , so it's very convenient to have meal or just have a drink inside the resort .

We wanted to avoid the chaos of old lijiang, and chose baisha as an alternative base from which to go trekking by jade snow mountain (in view from the resort terrace). Good choice. The town won't be the same for long, but right now there is a perfect balance between a few (nice) souvenir shops, small restaurants, embroidery institute, and then the daily life of old yi or naxi women in deep blue clothes carrying in vegetables to sell, or chatting in small groups as they meander down the street.
Baisha resort itself has comfortable rooms, nice wood and lantern decor, and good shower stalls in the private bathrooms (contrary to other places). My family enjoyed just hanging out or having tea on the terrace, and then going to the nearby hotel restaurant, a family-feeling place with great food. The staff was extremely friendly, always going out of the way to help or talk despite each person doing an incredible amount of work. The boss, Charlie, can offer good travel advice since he's been a guide as well. Helen and Chris were also fantastic company.
Although most people could just pass through in a day, I would recommend staying here for at least 2-3 nights to soak in the atmosphere, meet good people, enjoy the relaxed pace of life, and take in the serene mountains nearby.

Thank you very much for your review . It's our honor to supply service to guests at home or abroad . And we find that almost 80 percent of guests are from European and American countries , perhaps the major reason is that our resort is in traditional Chinese style . So a large number of foreigners come to our resort and fall in love with it . Moreover , the staffs in our resort are all eager to help our guests . We are so happy to meet our guests and let them feel members of our family .
