The Oasis is situated in central Turpan and is much used by tourist groups. From the outside it looks pleasant enough, inside things go down hill.
The ground floor appeared to be being refurbished so may well be alright. However we were on the second floor where everything was in desperate need of refurbishment. Our room was an ordinary room with reasonable space and was clean but the decor was bordering on the squalid it was so tatty. For us the final straw was the towels which were limp, thin, stained brown with age and achieved the physical impossibility of leaving you wetter after you used them than you were before.
English at reception was limited (and not up to requests for decent towels).
Breakfast was in a rather congested muggy area. On a busy weekday it was a good buffet with surly staff, on a quiet weekend it was a nice but slightly thin served meal with friendly staff.
We did not want to give them our trade for an evening meal so got enormous nan breads from a friendly stall just outside the gates for virtually nothing.
It may be that things will change with the refurbishment but be very certain before going here.
