“Great location, good service”

Looking at some of the previous reviews, I have the impression we stayed in a different hotel from the other people...We were warmly welcomed, had a very smooth check-in procedure and had a very courteous bell boy attending to our luggage. When we arrived at the designated rooms, we realised that we were allocated a smoking floor and went down to get the rooms changed. This was done without hesitation or argueing and we actually even got upgraded to a better room.
We were adviced not to eat in the restaurant for dinner as it is (as most 4-5 star hotels are) totally overpriced, so we went to the small little eateries just next to the hotel and had a great time there!
The room itself was a bit tired and as others mentioned before, Wi-fi was not always avaiable in the room, which I think should really be standard offering in this day and age.
Amenities were good, shower worked well, only problem was that the sink leaked, but now major issue either.
Where I disagree with many of the other reviewers is on the breakfast, at least the western selection was good (my kids LOVED the waffles) and the cappuccino was of decent quality...always a key component in my breakfast.
The biggest disappointment for me was that they only had one channel showing the football world cup so I missed the game of my favourite team...

The hotel is blessed with a great location. Near the Nature Park, near local attractions etc. But more than that, the hotel is blessed with many other qualities as well.

Its overall ambience of calm and comfort, serenely pervades one's entire self. Not just in one's room ... but anywhere within its boundary. Priceless.

Beside the hotel are lesser inns and lodging establishments that poses as 'hotels'... and quaint shopping outlets that are worth a casual distractive after-dinner wander. Wonderful.

5 of us had 3 rooms - in on 6June 2014, out on 8June 2014. Mine was room 2619. All our rooms were clean, comfortable, well lit, definitely non-smoking (which is a near miracle in this day and age of travelling - especially in China. The 200Y charge for violating the non-smoking requirement is a great idea. Nicely put ... the amount is to clean up the room and air quality). Truly Brave.

Each room has a working torch light, a well-designed coat rack, "Explore" Folder for your adventures, Choice of Pillow (Contour Pillow, Anti-Snoring Pillow, Buckwheat Pillow, Feather Firm Pillow, Cotton Pillow - Wow. There are also complimentary condoms. Daring. Practical. Fighting AIDs. Socially Responsible. Commendable.

Contrary to what other reviewers had commented, the rooms were new, fresh, exhilarating. The spanking new toilet bowls regal in pristine bathrooms that boast no grouting. The sparkling clean bathtubs is the right place to use the bath salts (yes) provided! And there's bathrobes too. Remarkable.

The rooms were well designed, tastefully commissioned and professionally maintained. The amenities appropriate. TV reception was tip top. Unbelievable.

Check in service was speedy, welcoming, warm. Housekeeping service gave us no reason for complaints. Dining - we had dinner and breakfasts - was an absolute indulgence. The varied spreads left us spoilt for choice. Food was hot, well presented, promptly replenished, spaciously displayed.The silk napkins were nice added touches. F & B service was prompt, attentive, cheerful. What a thrill!

Checking out was pleasant, prompt and seamless ... as it should always be. Great.

This is one awesome hotel where comfort is in constant pursuit of you. My one gigantic complaint is that we had only 2 nights in the hotel... we should have spent more nights there. Sigh.

The number one reason to stay in this hotel is the location. As we drove into Jiuzhaigou from the airport, we passed the Holiday Inn and the Intercontinental which seemed quite far away from the park and the activities in the town. Even not having yet seen the hotel, I was glad I chose the Sheraton for a two-night stay.

The hotel is walking distance from the park entrance and well located to the other parts of the town and you can easily cab or walk to many places. After a whole day of hiking around the park, the location of the hotel made it no burden at all to head back, get refreshed and then go out again to enjoy dinner and a stroll.

Other reviewers complain this hotel is not up to Sheraton standards. I agree to a point but you need to take into account the totality of the situation. Not too many years ago, maybe 15 or so, this entire area was undeveloped and people made a living as farmers. If you drive around the area you will still see this sort of activity--yaks, goats and horses sharing the road with cars, tractors, trucks, buses etc. Expecting this Sheraton to be in the same league as a Sheraton in an international city is expecting a lot from a place that is easily an 8-hour drive to any sort place where you might be able to find the standard you are seeking.

I was quite happy with the service. People tried very hard to accommodate any request and most of the staff I encountered spoke at least serviceable English. Our room did have a few problems. It was well used but clean and the a/c unit didn't really work. Even with the windows open the room got a bit stuffy at night. And, I think these days any hotel that puts itself in the four or five star class should have wi-fi in the room, not just in the lobby. All that said, our stay was completely adequate and I would stay here again and absolutely recommend it to others.

This is less of a review of the hotel and more of a review of the buffet/restaurant. The hotel itself was nice. Not great but, a nice place to stay. The restaurant needs help though. It was a very nice buffet with a good selection but, ALL THE FOOD WAS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE!!!. I would have been concerned about this in the states. The health department would have shut them down. I was even more concern since this is China. We got there late the first day and figured the food had gotten cold because the serving bin covers were left open and the burners were just not keeping up. We got there early the next day. Steam was coming out when the covers were opened. It seems the water under the food is hot but, the food was still room temperature. It seemed they were putting the room temperature food in the bins expecting the serving bins to heat them up (???). Lots of potential with this restaurant. It is a nice spread and the food probably would have tasted good except that it was not hot. Seems like a simple fix and I can't understand why they would put cold food out. And I really don't understand why all the Chinese were eating it and not complaining. Bottom line: Not doing this hotel again.

We stayed there 3 nights as a family.
The hotel is situated 5 min away from the entrance of the park when taking a taxi, I was so glad we chose this one as location is ideal.
Apart from location, the rooms are average, nothing special. Our fridge did not work on arrival but it was changed promptly.
Breakfast choice was great. The restaurant is organised to efficiently manage large Chinese groups so staff is more busy cleaning tables after guests than making sure you have what you need when you arrive. They tried hard to push the buffet on us, but we managed to eat 'a la carte' nethertheless.

We stayed here for three nights and were disappointed with many things. The hotel is extremely outdated and not clean. We paid for a king sized bed and were given two very small double beds pushed together, but with separate sheets on each bed. The bathroom is moldy and very small. Wifi is only available in the lobby and is very slow. The breakfast has very limited western options and is not worth the expensive fee they charge. Restaurant food (western options) for other meals were decent for the area, but very expensive compared to many other (nicer) hotel restaurants we've eaten at.

One positive is the close proximity the hotel is to the park entarence. We paid 10 rmb for a cab ride and walked the 1.5 km distance as well.

We paid 300 rmb for a cab from the airport and the ride took approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. If prone to car sickness, you might want to take medication.

While there are not many hotel options in the area, it's shameful that Sheraton would even allow their name on this hotel, let alone calling it a five star. It is very deceiving for travellers who have trusted the Sheraton name in the past. The hotel was not cheap and the service and amenities were absolutely horrible for the price we paid. I would suggest other travellers explore other options in the area prior to booking at this hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we booked the other international brand. I've read the reviews before booking but it's worse than I could imagine for a Sheraton. Not sure what the official star ratting is but it's comparable to a good 3 star or a bad 4 star Chinese hotel. There's cigarette smoke in public areas. It's close to the park entrance but a little bit of a walk so most will catch a taxi.
Room: the room was okay , carpet wasn't clean need to walk with footwear, dated and needs a renovation, slippers and bathrobe provided.
Bathroom: clean, bath and shower combo, good water pressure, very small and cramped, there's some mould if you start looking around closely, full amenities supplied.
Breakfast: the buffet has a limited selection of both western and Chinese items. Food quality was on the poor side. At peak time staff doesn't seem to be able to keep up with clearing plates, refilling the buffet items etc
Service: standard brisk and impersonal mannerisms typical of many hotels in China, there's usually one reception staff that can speaks English. No help with luggage, door etc not sure why there's door staff. My husband saw a lady with kids pushing her own loaded luggage trolley (the ones bell boys push) out of the hotel past a few staff near the door and no one even moved to open the door for her.
Restaurant: we went to the Chinese restaurant and this was where we had one of our worst meals in China. The flavour was incorrect, food was of poor quality. We were too scared to try the Western restaurant.
This Sheraton is different to any other 4 or 5 star international branded hotel in China. Sheraton should bring it in line with their other hotels or sell it off as this hotel is damaging the brand.
