“the only 5 star hotel close to park entrance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Stayed here for christmas. Given this hotel was built in a remote area, i didnt expect a full 5 star. Room was a bit dated, but large and clean. You can see snow mountain over the window. there was a recreation center in basement, a fully equiped gym, heated pool and game room. They charge 20RMB per hour for internet, not a good sign. There was a Sichuan restaurant in hotel. The price reflected its remote location. We had dinner buffet on the first night. Good serivce, Food was acceptable, nothing bad and nothing amazing. The second day morning, we had the exactly same set for breakfast. I doubt some dishes were leftover from last night. Good, no waste food. Walk from hotel to national park is about 10 mins. If you are going to airport, book a mini van in advance, cab charge in Jiuzhaigou is extortion.

Room Tip: dont get the room next to lift.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to share your experiences on TripAdvisor. It is through continuous feedback that allow us to objectively review the facilities and services we provide to ensure that they meet our guests' expectations.

It is certainly disappointing to learn of your less than satisfactory experience with us. Please accept my sincere apologies for your experience and I can assure you that your feedback has been shared with our team to address on the areas concerned.

Regarding the buffet feedback, we never use the dinner leftover for breakfast. It is a basic standard for us to use fresh ingredients in our buffet.

We thank you for your contribution towards our improvement.

Our tour company chose this hotel to stay at because of its proximity to Jiuzhaigou National Park. The rooms and hotel service were fine however, we were very disappointed with the dinner buffet, for some reason, all of the "hot" entrees were either cold or at room temperature. We found this to be the case even when we arrived right at 6 pm when the buffet opened. We concluded that the food must have been made several hours in advance of dinner and the hotel was depending on the small gas burners beneath the serving dishes to keep the food warm. There was a wide variety of food and it might have been good if it had been served at the correct temperature. One night, half of our group ordered cheeseburgers and pizza rather than have the buffet. The other disappointment was that wifi was only available in the lobby. Not one of our favorite accommodations during our 2 week trip.

I guess when you're the closest 5* hotel to a national park like Jiuzhaigou you can be a bit complacent and assume people will come because there's little else on offer. But shame on the Sheraton brand for allowing this to be the case.

Tired rooms, that are not cleaned properly. I don't appreciate other people's dirty tissues or stained towels.

Pool/spa area very uninviting. Curt staff.

The dinner was very poor quality and I can say that of a one month tour of China involving 12 hotels, this was hands down the worst breakfast.

I'm questioning my loyalty to the Sheraton Brand. Another experience like this and I'll be returning my SPG card!

We picked this hotel because of its proximity to the park entrance. Its about a 20 minute walk or 10 yuan taxi ride to the main gates. It was great to be so close for the early start to our day in the park, and the quick ride home after a long day of walking.

Other pros:
- It's a large hotel, felt spacious (we were there during low season), and the common areas felt clean.
- The rooms are comfortable and clean enough. The linens were clean, white and fresh, no complaints.
- Satellite TV with non-Chinese channels, including HBO and Cinemax.
- Breakfast buffet was included in our room rate. There was a decent selection of food and the service was good (ie quick with the coffee and tea).
- Nice in-room amenities including bathrobes, slippers, nice shampoo, conditioner, lotion, razor and toothbrushes.

Cons:
- Only free wi-fi was in the hotel lobby. Wi-fi wasn't even available in the rooms, and a broadband connection was 60 yuan/day.
- Cost for an extra bed and breakfast buffet is expensive! We opted to forgo the extra bed (360 ish yuan) and fit 3 people on 2 double beds. It's completely doable, just a bit tight for 2 adults who move in their sleep. Our room rate only included 2 breakfast buffets, so the 3rd person ordered room service, which was much cheaper (168 yuan versus 85 yuan for pancakes and coffee) and more relaxing. The restaurant can get pretty crowded in the mornings as everyone is rushing around to make it to the park or check-out.
- We were on a non-smoking floor but the hallways smelled of smoke. Housekeeping had the doors open for a few rooms they were cleaning to air them out.
- English by the staff is limited. We were mostly able to communicate in our broken Chinese, but one time we tried to order room service in English and the guy said he couldn't speak any. That seems like it would be an issue. If you do order breakfast room service using the card, make sure it gets picked up the night before. It was picked up the first night, but not the second (hence having to call).

We paid 250 yuan for a taxi ride from the airport and arranged to have the same driver take us back to the airport at the same rate. The ride was 1.5 hours and quite a ride! People who get car sick (like me) might consider bringing a bag for emergencies. Saw a few cars pulled over with people vomiting on the side of the road! Taxis were readily available at the hotel, though the concierge said it was better to arrange a taxi to the airport prior to departure in order to negotiate a better price.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The price was reasonable for what we received, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the national park.

I was very pleased and surprise to find the staff from chambermaids to bellboys to reception staff very friendly, greeting us when they passed by.
Our room (double deluxe) was comfortable but the toilet/bathroom was a little small. Hot water for bathing was not available at all times, we had to let the water run for the next person to bathe. I love the bathe robe..
There is cable tv but only 2 English channels, showing really old tv, thankfully there is CNN channel.
Security at the lobby was lacking. As the lobby is the only place to get free wifi, we find many local tour guides occupying the sofa (not many), watching some movies or surfing the net. Some even put their feet on the coffee table.
We also encountered a local guest who was shouting over his mobile phone disturbing the guests at the lobby, his conversation went on for at least 5 minutes but no staff was brave enough to approach him to remind him it is a public area.
Free wifi is really slow when too many are using at the same time. TIP:- The fast food restaurant DICO'S at the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley has super fast FREE wifi.
Breakfast was good with both western and Chinese food, lots of selection but the same every day. I love the bread and the Dan Dan Noodles. One morning, the bread toaster didn't work, I told the staff but he told me this is how it worked. I told him, it was working well for 2 days, he just turned and walked away. Bad attitude.
There are only 2 restaurants, pricey but food is quite ok.
Even though it's a 5-star hotel, guests are not 5-star, caught some seated with legs over the arm rest, some used hands to take food etc. My table was taken over by a local when I went to take my food. She claims she didn't see my BRIGHT PINK jacket on the seat, she had 3 bags with her and I would have certain seen it b4 claiming that table. Sigh... Anyway she had a huge shouting match with her tour guide at the restaurant a few mins later.
There are limited tables for breakfast, I wonder how the hotel manage over their peak season.
Walking distance to the famous jiuzhaigou valley is only 15-20 mins walk. I suggest taking a cab, only 10yuan to save energy, lots of walking within the valley.
Overall I recommend this hotel over Intercontinental Hotel due to it's convenient location.

This hotel is very close to the national park. The fabric of the building though nice looking in the Reception areas does not follow through to the hotel rooms. We walked in to our room to find a cotton bud on the floor. The room was comfortable enough. The bathroom functioned with no issues (it does look dated), the pool was small and did not look the part, steam rooms and jacuzzi were extra so didn't bother. The hotel had two Buffett restaurants (one Western and Chinese one). I went to the Western one simply because I had been eating local food for a week and found nothing Western about it. I ate very little and did not think it was good value. (They also had an a la carte menu but I wasn't inspired with confidence, so refrained from spending more for what could have potentially been a mediocre meal. Breakfast was good. No wifi except in lobby, which is an oddity in China where it's generally available in the rooms. Staff were friendly and polite. I would recommend a stay here simply based on location. Slightly disappointing for a Sheraton.

Visited Jiuzhaigou for Easter weekend in 2014 and stayed for two nights in Sheraton resort. Hotel itself is just average I would say, nothing to rave about. The facade is quite outdated but the room is clean. One thing that really disappoints is lack of air conditioning in the room. Granted when i went it was still quite cold (about 14 degrees celcius) but the windows were too small to let sufficient air in.
Wifi works well but only in the lobby area.
The location is good because it is within walking distance to Jiuzhaigou park about 15 minutes and u can definitely take a taxi for 10 dollars. I was really tired after spending a day in the park so a 5 minute ride to the hotel is great. Also, there are some shops and restaurants by the hotel within walking distance that is great if you dont want to spend a fortune on food at the Hotel.
