Please do not stay here. This hotel is used by the local tour agencies and they carry out a scam to cheat hotel guests. We joined a local tour and were allocated this hotel and stayed here for 2 nights. If you do join a local tour, please insist on knowing which hotel you would be putting up at.
Although the hotel is located near Sheraton, trust us, this is nowhere close in quality, even if they call themselves Four Stars (准四星）.
Firstly, the hotel is in a pretty run-down building. The lobby looks regular enough, but when you arrive at the rooms, everything looks like it is about to break down. The bathroom does not have a proper shower space, the door handle is loose and could be pulled out if you try hard enough.
Service leaves much to be desired. The reception and housekeeping staff would not hesitate to hold a shouting match with you whether in the room, the corridor or in the lobby where many other guests are present.
The Scam - Please be wary of this.
We checked out on the last day, only to be told by our tour guide that there is a problem with our room. We were shocked when the Reception staff told us that the toilet seat cover was spoilt. We were asked to go to the room to check it out. The housekeeping staff insisted that we had caused the toilet seat cover to come loose. When we left the room it definitely was not in that state. In fact, they produced a 'broken bit' which was not there in the first place.
The Reception staff insisted that we pay for this. But when we asked if they would produce a receipt if we paid, they replied that there is none. Given the situation, we refused to pay. For other hotels, this defect would probably be borne by the hotel itself as it is part of maintenance. The tour guide on the other hand insisted that we pay so as not to delay the progress of the tour group.
1) Please do not stay here
2) If you had to, please be wary of such scam. If need be, after you check out, ask to be present in the room while the housekeeping staff is inspecting the room.
