My husband, son, dog and I were on our way to TN evacuating from Hurricane Gustav. After 13 hours of driving b/c of traffic we knew we had to stop. We called numerous hotels in the area but none were available except for this one. Now we know why! First we were parking (it was 1am) & 2 guys in a car signaled to me to roll down my window. I thought they needed help so I did. He holds up this electronic item with big price stickers on it (probably just stole it) and told me he'd give me a good deal on it. Then we walk into the room & everything was wet in it b/c they had the a/c off & it was so humid in there. The bathroom was smaller than a bathroom on a cruise ship. I felt as if a murder had been committed in that hotel room it was so disgusting! Having evacuated we had a lot of stuff in the truck & I thought for sure it was going to get stolen. Even though it was 1am my husband immediately started calling other hotels to get us out of there. Although we had to stick it out there for one night we did manage to find another hotel an hour away. I even think they overcharged us just b/c we were evacuees. We paid $100 for the night & when I called the 1-800 number the next morning to check the price the guy told me that he could not give me a past rate if I booked directly through the hotel. He could only give it to me if I booked through the 1-800 # and had a confirmation number. Pretty convenient isn't it?

Saw the website pictures and thought it looked nice and was a good value. So, I booked the room for a week. It was a mistake! It was dirty and had a lot of low life people staying there. Prostitutes, pot heads, and people wandering around all over the place. The pool was a "cess-pool". It stank, and there was a condom wrapper in it. I will NEVER stay there again

“It was like staying at the Bates motel from the movie Psycho!”

Days Inn - Birmingham

Aug 18, 2008

It felt like a night at the Bates Motel! Traveling alone, I found Days to be a "somewhat" reputable business/name and pulled off to get a few hours sleep. The price was ok. $75.00. The lobby smelled and looked dingy, which should have been my first warning sign. Maybe it should've been the hords of "unique" looking people who hung out around the floors. Only to get in the room and have it smell. The sheets had stains on them and a shoe print was on one of my pillow cases. Though the bathtub looked clean, the bathroom was very undesireable.

The towels were dingy and the floors looked half swept. I slept in my clothes and jacket to keep my skin from touching the bed sheets and threw the comforter on the floor. I also slept with the lights and tv on. There were beverage spills on the desk table and the curtains were dirty. The air conditioning unit cut on and off all night, but hey, they had HBO and free wi-fi so go figure. I made the mistake and left my cosmetic bag at check out and i guess I shouldn't ask because it may have been stolen by now. A very adventurous stay to say the least. Find a truck stop and sleep in your car!

Walking into the lobby and seeing the people who were sitting there I wasn't sure if I was checking into a motel or hooker convention. The motel is not located in a very good part of town. After checking into the room I had to go back to the lobby to get TP for the bathroom. We were unable to take a shower because there was mold on the shower curtain. If I could have brought my car in the room I would have to make sure it was secure. If I had known about this website with the reviews before hand I sure would not have stayed here. I picked this days inn because it was on our travel route.

“Don't come out when the sun goes down!”

Days Inn - Birmingham

My husband and I had no idea when we evacuated during a hurricane we would end up somewhere even more dangerous! When we first arrived it was just after dark. My husband was unloading the car, and I was standing at the front of the hotel waiting outside for him. A patrol car just happened to be driving by, and the next thing I knew he was practically slamming on his brakes in pure awe that I was standing out front. The officer and his partner couldn't get my attention quick enough! He began to ask me if I was staying at the hotel by myself and why was I outside. I told him my husband was unloading the car, so I was waiting wth my cats which I had in carriers. When my husband approached the officer told us not to come out after dark and that I should not go anywhere outside the room by myself! We agreed because there were no other hotels to be had at the time. We were very hungry after driving, so since we shouldn't go out after dark we tried ordering pizza. Not one single place would deliver pizza to this hotel! That's how dangerous it is! Did I mention the motorcycle gang that lives/parties across the street at all times of the day and night? The pool was disgusting, there was mold of course in the toilet and walls of the shower, but the worst part was the yellow dirty pillows under the pillowcase and the gross mattress. I had to use my own blankets from the car to sleep on! This place is right in there with crack house! I don't care what the price is. The only thing decent was the front lobby.
