“Don't come out when the sun goes down!”

Days Inn - Birmingham

My husband and I had no idea when we evacuated during a hurricane we would end up somewhere even more dangerous! When we first arrived it was just after dark. My husband was unloading the car, and I was standing at the front of the hotel waiting outside for him. A patrol car just happened to be driving by, and the next thing I knew he was practically slamming on his brakes in pure awe that I was standing out front. The officer and his partner couldn't get my attention quick enough! He began to ask me if I was staying at the hotel by myself and why was I outside. I told him my husband was unloading the car, so I was waiting wth my cats which I had in carriers. When my husband approached the officer told us not to come out after dark and that I should not go anywhere outside the room by myself! We agreed because there were no other hotels to be had at the time. We were very hungry after driving, so since we shouldn't go out after dark we tried ordering pizza. Not one single place would deliver pizza to this hotel! That's how dangerous it is! Did I mention the motorcycle gang that lives/parties across the street at all times of the day and night? The pool was disgusting, there was mold of course in the toilet and walls of the shower, but the worst part was the yellow dirty pillows under the pillowcase and the gross mattress. I had to use my own blankets from the car to sleep on! This place is right in there with crack house! I don't care what the price is. The only thing decent was the front lobby.

I'm currently sitting in the lobby, since the room was sort of taken back from me? I'm working until very late at night, long turn in a dangerous place about two miles from here. I've been here before frequently, and have survived to this point. Here, it's a choice of getting shot by a 9 x 19mm or run down by a monster truck, so I chose to chance the former? Anyway, the staff is so paranoid they've turned it into kind of a prison stay to be here. Me, I just don't want my room emptied-out since the cleaners simply walk off with your door left open, in an exceedingly scary environment...None of this is an exxageration in the least! “Great staff, Very Clean, Great location on/off interstate”

Friendly courteous staff. Stayed there during the holiday's while visiting family in Bham. Staff was knowledgeable of how to get around the city, things to do for fun and shopping. Rooms were impeccably clean and well appointed but not the Marriott. Easy to get on/off the interstate and was just one exit away from a major interstate interchange that would take you to all metro points. Again, staff made the difference at this hotel.

I booked this hotel online before I read any reviews, needless to say after reading some of them, I was very worried about picking this hotel. But everything was great, we only stayed one night because we were in town for a concert.... it wasn't the Marriott, but I wasn't expecting that anyway!!! Good choice for somewhere to crash after a night downtown!!

I was attending a concert downtown and was looking for a place to stay the night so I wouldn't have to drive home that night and I found this place. It looked ok from the pictures and sounded decent so I got a room. Well, please don't make this mistake! I have stayed at many hotels on business and this was awful. First, while we were checking in, the police raided a room and arrested numerous people and had them sitting out on the sidewalk as they searched the room. Then we got in the room and all I can say is that it was gross. The trash can was overflowing with garbage from the last tenant. The tv guide had nasty fungus growing on it and the remote didn't work. The tub was disgusting also. Well, we didn't have much choice and figured we could make it one night. The area around the hotel is teaming with gangs and I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Well, the next morning we got up and I got in the shower and noticed the white towel had black hairs all on it. I got another towel and it, too, had black hairs on it! That's sick! And these were not all head hair! I used a clean shirt to dry off with. We checked out and went over to look at the breakfast bar. It was NOTHING like the picture! It looked horrible. We turned around and got the hell out of that place and I must say, I have never been so happy to leave a place in my life.
