The best thing about the Sheraton Birmingham is its convenience to the convention center. But the odd lay out of the hotel (atrium section and a tower) will cause confusion until you're oriented. Although the registration, bell, and valet staff were nice and helpful, service in the bars was marginal at best. Judging from my room, it's time for maintenance -- a stain on the carpet, loose fixtures in the bathroom (the faucet and taps wiggled) and poor water pressure are not what one expects from a Sheraton. Also be aware that the hotel is in a sort of no-man's land -- Birmingham's best restaurant districts are a cab/car/bus ride. When you're warned not to walk about by yourself after dark, that's a bit problematical too. Stay here for a conference or business, but not for fun.
