“Very Disappointed”

Best Western Riverchase Inn

About the only good thing you could say about this hotel is that is right across the street from the Galleria Mall. Upon arrival, we unloaded the car with all our luggage and baby items, into the room. The room was very hot. We turned on the AC full blast and waited about 15 minutes. STILL HOT. While waiting, we noticed the window curtains don't shut all the way and with the mirror on the opposite wall, anyone walking by could see straight into your room. Called front desk and requested another room. Was given another room so we packed back up and walked upstairs. Thank God the AC worked since we were there in the middle of a drought. 105+ degree weather. Once again, the curtain was a problem. Also, the phone in our 2nd room didn't work, the toilet was acting up and sometimes wouldn't flush, our toilet seat broke off, and there were several roaches in our room. We actually killed one and left it to see if the cleaning ladies would take care of it. They didn't. It was still there when we returned later that afternoon. How Gross that they didn't even vacuum. The floors were filthy and supposedly the hotel was been recently renovated per the website. The breakfast was okay, the usual continental stuff with some sausage patties and gravy thrown in. I would have eaten the biscuits and waffles but when I saw the flies and gnats in the plastic container that held them, I was sticking to packaged cereal. While eating breakfast, a department of corrections van drops off some "girls" in uniform to clean rooms. I understand trying to help someone who made a mistake, but I felt very uncomfortable thinking that these girls were in my room. This happened every day. I think the worst thing about the whole trip was finding a used condom outside of our room near the sidewalk!!! Looking back, we should have left and went to find another hotel. but we were too tired after our long trip there. 14 hours is a long time to be on the road. Be very careful staying here. Workers behind the desk were very nice, but the hotel itself needs major work and updating. I know I won't stay there again. There are several other hotels on this same stretch of highway. Stay somewhere better for just a little more money.

We were on our way to Baton Rouge and stayed here on our way. The first time we stayed (on the way to Baton Rouge) it was a nice room, good mattress and extremely friendly staff. Only draw back was being by the stairwell with teenagers going up and down and yelling to each other..obviously not here to sleep. The breakfast bar was very nice much more than just rolls and coffee. On the way back the mattress in our room was old and definitely needed replacing, plus the bar in the tub was missing so for seniors who need to hold onto something, it wasn't be best. Again, good staff and breakfast bar. For a one or two day stay this is a good place to stay over.

“Drapes Didn't Close To Mirror View In, But Clean & Well Painted”

Overall it is a nice motel, but like others my wife and I have stayed at, the drapes on the front window don't close all the way and if there is a mirror on the wall as you look in through the crack, anyone can see the bed area!

The TV remote worked fine except you had to point it directly at a very targeted spot on the bottom of the TV or it did not work. The towels were thin and small, but many motels are going to these as people steal them. The room was cleaner than most and the walls looked recently painted, but the bathroom floor corners were dirty.

We stayed here two years ago, and the AAA price was $56, and that went up to $66 (with no refrigerator or microwave for that lower price), but that's understandable, since you get hard boiled eggs and sausage patties along with the usual fair for breakfast.

It is very close to a Costco for inexpensive gasoline, and a nice shopping mall with plenty of decent restaurants close by too.

If I can post some photos later, I will.

“Food and trash on floor, no remote, no wireless even though advertised”

We booked a room at this hotel while traveling, so it was an impromptu stop. The woman's attitude behind the counter should have warned me about our upcoming experience, because she was sour, unhappy, and unfriendly (and this was a holiday weekend!).

We didn't find our remote for the TV even though the hotel clerk said we had one and we just had to look for it. As I searched (and just why was I doing this?) I found old food, trash, and other garbage on the floor.

This hotel also advertises a wireless connection. The connection was so weak that we never got online. We were told the next morning that we could have called a 1-800 number to correct that problem, but I'm not into that game. I've stayed at hotels that were twice as nice for half the price with no wireless problems.

Amazingly, this hotel is located across from the Galleria Mall, so I'm sure they snag plenty of customers. Perhaps we just hit it wrong, but this is the last in a series of bad, bad, bad Best Western experiences for me. No more.

“Not Bad At All”

Best Western Riverchase Inn

Booked a $63 room for a Friday night from the hotel's website: kingsize bed, fridge, microwave. Room also had an ironing board, hair dryer, and coffee maker.

Room is narrow and could be considered a little cramped with all the stuff in it. There was a couch with a coffee table, and a desk with a comfortable office chair that swiveled and rolled. Since I was by myself the room fit all my needs and more with the wireless internet--the crampness wasn't a problem.

Room was clean and neat and did not appear run down. There was a minor patch by the shower/tub. I did not even have to stoop down to wash my hair as the showerhead was mounted hight enough on the wall. I'm just over six feet and many hotels mount their showerheads at around 5' 10".

Did not use the complimentary breakfast but it was the standard juice, coffee, cereal, danish, bagel fare. Did not notice any fresh fruit.

My only nit would be that the couch had not been vacuumed underneath the coushins for a while as there were a few peanuts and bits of paper and such. Heck, look under my coushins and you might find Jimmy Hoffa.
