I've stayed at this Ramada several times over the years and I don't think it is as bad as the other reviews. It is not a luxury hotel by any means but the other area hotels have become pricey lately and I think the hotel provides adequate accomodations and service. The breakfast buffet (included) is also adequate. My wife asked for honey for her hot tea. The gentleman stocking the buffet told me there was no honey but that because I asked he'd make sure that there would be honey the next morning. I haven't been there during any break-ins but my teenage son & I felt safe walking at night to Jim & Nicks BBQ down the road for dinner. I'll be back in May for 2 nights.

Our vehicle was vandalized and robbed during our stay here. The manager on duty stated this was the 5th vehicle break-in in as many weeks. And, the cop who took the report stated they had told the hotel to tell customers not to park where we were parked but they did not warn us!!
The hotel states they have 24 hour security. The security guard we saw when we came in was half asleep watching TV in the lobby. Big help he was!!

After check-in, took the one working elevator to my 3rd floor room (and it wasn't sounding very healthy). The next morning when I went to check-out, NO elevator was working. So I had to climb up & down 3 flights of stairs several times to remove everything from my room.

When I got to the front desk, the clerk told me that the repair men were "on their way" - it was over an hour between when I first noticed no elevators were working and when the clerk told me this. I didn't wait around to see how long it actually ended up taking for them to repair the elevators.

I inquired about getting a discount for my inconvenience and was told I'd need to contact a manager, that hotel staff weren't authorized to give me any compensation. The clerk gave me the manager's business card - without a 1-800 number on it! After I requested the number, she reluctantly provided it.

My recommendation is you look elsewhere for a hotel while in Birmingham - if you can't climb stairs, you need to truly avoid this hotel or you could be stranded!

staff seemed friendly enough. unfortunately the room was well below standard, the bathroom was leaking and there was mould all over the shower curtains. there was a couple of other small issues but i can't remember what they were. maybe we were just unlucky and had a particularly bad room but i wouldn't stay there again.
