We just returned from 3 weeks in China and 1 week in Taiwan. We had a fantastic time apart from 3 unpleasent hotel experiences. Luoyang Grand Hotel was the worest hotel in China we had stayed in. It had a mouldy wall next to a bed side table. Bathroom was mouldy and had rust stains. So we changed to another room which had no mouldy wall but was still a very old room with mould and stains bathroom. Air con was not working well. So we asked for a fan. It was late and we were so tired from traveling and thought of just for 1 night so we put up with it. We hope if you every travel to Luoyang, please see the room first. If your tour guide books you in, please make sure he/she goes up with you to check the room incase you need to change to another hotel. Their 4 star hotel is not international standard but local standard awarded10 years ago. Perhaps they are refurbishing their rooms, it is just not on to give guests these terriable rooms to stay. I advise you to avoid this hotel if you can. Go for at least 5 star hotel or well known group hotels instead in Louyang.
