“Delicious with a smile....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

The Bright Star in Bessemer never fails to offer delicious meals and smiling servers ready to please. The food is top quality and cooked to perfection. My favorite is fish...any fish done the Bright Star way! The salads are always fresh, the sides are numerous and always tasty and piping hot, and the main courses are simply bursting with Greek flavor. Dining out at the Bright Star has been a favorite treat of mine for many years. I can always count on delicious food, smiling servers, and ultimate satisfaction.

“Service is impeccable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Atmosphere of Greek restaurant from the early 1900's. Generations of owners have passed down wonderful menu items such as the aged tenderloin, fried green tomatoes with shrimp and fabulous bread pudding with whiskey sauce! The staff is very accommodating and should you have to wait on a table, the new addition of a bar area is a nice way to begin the experience of a relaxing dinner.

“Saturday Lunch at the Bright Star”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

The Bright Star is noted and celebrated by many who visit for its superb evening dinning. However, one of my favorites is the everday lunch menu. The selection usually offers between 5 to 6 diferent cuts of beef, fish, and chicken. Then the great choices of fresh vegetables, salads and ,finally, the wonderful deserts made daily. The service, courtesy, atmosphere, and staff makes one feel that they ary with a family sittin around the Sunday lunch gathering at home.
It is great to visit anytime....I wish they served breakfast. But, don"t go there Jimmy, keep it just as is.

“A must stop if in Birmingham, Alabama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

The Bright Star restaurant is in Bessemer, Alabama. It is close to Hoover and Birmingham, Alabama. The oldest restaurant in Alabama. Go for the food and the atmostphere. Worth the drive to get there.

“An Oldie but a Goodie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The Bright Star is rated on Trip Advisor as the number one restaurant in the City of Bessemer. The Bright Star was established in 1907.......an oldie but a goodie. We were not disappointed. We arrived for dinner and there was no waiting and we were seated in one of the middle dining rooms and I sat in a chair where Sandra Bullock sat while taking her father to dinner for Father’s Day in 2010. I ordered the Greek Flounder with a side of veggies. The Greek salad was good, but the homemade Greek salad dressing, with feta cheese was excellent. The waitress brought a complimentary taste of their gumbo and that was a nice touch.
