“Good Food but rooms need updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

On first impressions of this hotel I was really pleased that we had only one night booked there as everything looked tired and run down, although the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
our room was not particularly clean and had a huge mirror over the bed. All the fittings were glitzy and needed updating.
However, we were very pleasantly surprised by the breakfast which was one of the best we had in China with a good fruit selection and cereals and wholemeal bread.
There is also a coffee shop where the staff are lovely.
The location is good for the town but Yangshou is not particularly attractive and the shops are not really worth looking at.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room which overlooks the rubbish dump.

We enjoyed this hotel and this town. Our room was huge and we were fortunate to have a separate lounge area along with our double bedroom. The air con was fantastic and it needed to be because it was very hot and humid weather. It is in a great position with markets and shops nearby. Supermarket next door where you can pick up just about anything you need. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was fairly good and a good buffet breakfast with plenty of variety. Breakfast was in a lovely courtyard type area and very pretty. However the only problem was our bed - it was the worst bed we had on our trip ... so hard it was like sleeping on concrete. This was a shame because apart from that the hotel was good.

We only stayed here one night as part of our tour but for me this was the most wonderful place to see. The hotel was fantastic, clean and airy. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The hotel was situated not far from the main town and there you could shop until midnight if you wanted. We stumbled across an English bar and restaurant called the London Tavern. All in all I really enjoyed Yangshuo pity we couldn't stay longer

Stayed for one night as part of a tour group, seems to be very popular for tour groups. It is what it is but rather quaint with a more Chinese, local feeling. Not the best hotel we stayed at but to be fair by no means the worse. Room was on the small side but clean and comfortable although it did smell a little of damp. Staff were friendly and helpful and over all this was a reasonable place to stay.
Well placed for viewing the town and the market stalls were incredible, selling anything and everything. I really enjoyed the walk through the narrow streets viewing all the wares available, some of the skills of the artisans are amazing.Prices start high giving you the chance to hone your bartering skills, good fun regardless of the outcome.

We visited this hotel as part of a group tour. The hotel is located at the farthermost end of Yangshou with lovely views from the rooms windows. The hotel had an older style (Chinese) feel in the room decor with dark wooden framed partitions and fittings. The hotel staff were friendly and the rooms were quite adequate. The breakfast restaurant area was lovely with a small pond and a ceiling covered with colored umbrellas.

There is a small supermarket just off from the front of the hotel where you can buy milk and other grocery items. It is a five minute walk to the docks on the Li River and many market stalls are found along the way. The central part of the town has many 'quirky' restaurants and cafe's; some which offer free WiFi.

If you visit Yangshuo and have an opportunity to visit the evening 'Impressions' concert on the nearby lakes; take my advice and go but organise good transport as it gets packed out every show - but it's worth the effort!!

All in all my wife and I intend going back and love the area.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor facing the town.

4th stop of a Wendy Wu tour of China. Hotel well situated near park and selected for a visitb to the Light Show.
Rooms fine but smaller than previous hotels. Looked out onto a blank wall which prevented natural light getting into bedroom.
Don't exchange currency at this hotel, very poor rate of exchange offered.

Room Tip: Get a front facing room.

We stayed here as part a private tour organized by Wendy Wu. I thought it was a fantastic hotel. Yes the beds are hard but that is just how they are in China. The room was a good size and the location was ideal. A convenient location with no through traffic! Walking into the center of town was easy and beautiful. The market was a true revelation, plenty of fresh vegetables but seeing livestock ready to become dinner was a bit confronting for some. The main shopping area for tourists is a barterers dream but if you are like my husband it can be a bit much. Lady, lady ... you buy. Cheaper cheaper. I love bargaining. ;)
There was plenty of dining space at breakfast and the food was good.
I really enjoyed the stay and would love to visit again and stay longer.
