We spend 4 nights at the yangshuo Village, the hotel is in a perfect location to discovery the city and to bikes trips, the staff is really friendly and professional help us in everything they speak perfect english. The restaurant was very good, you can find wester and Chinese food ! The Honeymoon room was really nice comfortable and with greats views ....you can have Jacuzzi looking the mountains! The only small problem in the bathroom was the shower, it was losing water when we were having a shower ... but apart of that great room great value ! thanks Village Retreat for everything !!! we will came back soon!!!

Overall our stay in the Yangshuo Village Retreat was like the other reviewers’ – quiet and very relaxing. We got off to a bad start when we were offered a double room which had mould over the ceiling. When we complained to the front desk we were told we would either have to pay to upgrade or get a slight discount. It was only after we found somewhere else to stay that they called the manager and agreed to upgrade us into a deluxe room without mould. The room was huge and if you can afford it, I would definitely recommend going for the deluxe room over the standard double rooms. The rest of our stay was great – nice restaurant and terrace and within walking distance of Yangshuo.

We were two families staying 4 nights at the hotel and had a fantastic time. The hotel is very well placed for trips to the surrounding area and is a 5 minute drive to the town centre. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and our friends in the Family Chalet. Both were comfortable and had plenty of room to accommodate the children. The food was good and offered western choices for the kids and the two girls on reception, Helen and Flower were excellent in arranging tour/activities along with transport at short notice. I have to mention Gerd as well for organising a rock climbing trip with less than an hours notice for our children. Our visit in November didn't have the best of weather but the terrace area on a warmer morning was a great place to start the day with breakfast. We'll definitely be back as there's still a lot of things we need to see and do in and around Yangshou.

We stayed for 5 nights (Sept) in a spacious room with a comfortable King size bed, balcony with karst mountain views, and bathroom with shower. The room was on the 4th floor with no lift, but this was not a problem for us.
The staff at the reception and in the bar/restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
The owner, Gerd, was exceptionally helpful when we were planning our visit to Yangshuo and promptly answered our numerous e-mails giving us advice on various options for our trip to the Longsheng rice terraces. He arranged for a driver to meet us at Guillin airport and take us directly to the village of Dazhai. We planned to spend one night here and then hike to Pingan on the next day. The driver kept our main luggage so that we were able to hike with only our rucksacks. He met us the following day after our 5 hour hike to Pingan and drove us to the Yangshuo Village Retreat. We were able to hire bikes at the hotel at a reasonable cost and the staff arranged a very enjoyable bamboo rafting trip for us on the Li River. These few days were one of the highlights of our trip to China.
