As with many reviews, the hotel is located within 6-7mins walking distance to the long distance bus station. That bus station is also where you would catch a bus where to the base of the Yellow Mountain entrance, & the cable car. We stayed for 2 nights mid July 2012. Unfortunately the hotel was not as clean as we expected it to be. The room had a bit of a damp smell to it, once you turned the air conditioning, seems to slowly go away. There were some stains on the wall, looked more like mouldy looking stains. When we arrived, the window was opened, & this may have caused some bugs & flies to get in. We stayed on the ground floor, & while we tried to ask to switch rooms, we were not successful. We were told that the hotel was full. The hotel manager told us they would put the electronic bug repellant on, and get rid of the bugs. Room is not spacious.
If you are bunking with someone, it may be a bit awkward sharing even a twin room. The bathroom has a see-through motif of their hotel's logo on their otherwise opaque glass door & wall. If you are close enough, you can peek into the bathroom, and vice versa.
The hotel's restaurant is ok, but there are other restaurants around outside, particularly if you don't mind restaurant touts trying to attract business.
If you stay in this hotel, you will not be able to see sunrise or sunset on the mountain. As far as I was able to gather, the cable cars and buses don't start that early. The staff are decent enough, they try to help as best they can. For example, the long distance bus to Nanjing picked us up from the hotel, where we booked with the hotel. Don't bank on great service, they get distracted easily. They will serve you, & then suddenly, they will serve another patron.
One of the reviews also mentioned about the hotel providing info to the mountain, & that is true. The hotel manager spent almost an hour talking about getting to the mountain, & helping you plan the route. The talk seems to occur around 6:30pm each night.
For about AUD10/night, can't complain about this hotel. If you can forego a bit about the state of the rooms, they are still clean enough.
