“Could be good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

we were absolutely gutted to find that our "lakeside garden villa" had absolutely no view of the lake. it had very little view of anything other than some tropical planting.
The hotel website is totally misleading and when it talks of "a sense of intimacy with the natural environment of Inle Lake:" etc, nowhere does it state that 6 of the rooms have no view of the lake. this means you miss the sunset, wildlife, local fishermen etc. we asked to be moved but this did not happen.
We found the food reasonable enough that in 3 nights staying there we did not feel the need to go elsewhere. The pre-ordering system for breakfast is ridiculous and doesn't work, the staff seemingly unable to read or understand the choices. it would be much better to have a buffet.
This is disappointing as the rooms themselves are beautiful and well appointed, but feeling so cheated I could not give this hotel a better review. they need to be more honest on their web site.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 1-6 as they have no view, and suffer form traffic noise form the road behind

Overall, we enjoyed our 2 days at this hotel. The rooms are individual cabins. Some have lake views (request this). We were in Villa 5, which is a bit of a trek from the reception area and is along the back road so you hear some minimal traffic noise. If I were to go back I would request a lake view cabin closer to the main area. Although as mentioned in other reviews, there is only one restaurant to eat at for dinner (it's hard to get to other areas of the lake at night), but the food is excellent and as a vegetarian, I had plenty to choose from. Breakfast, which is included, is basically made to order and is good. There is WiFi in the reception area and restaurant. The service at this hotel was wonderful. We tried the spa, which was a bit spotty--my husband and I each had a great massage, but when he went back the next day his massage (by a different person) was not good at all. The only less than wonderful thing about this hotel is that there is no gym, although I did see some people running on the road behind the hotel, and no pool.

Room Tip: request a lake view cabin close to the main area.

Inle Lake is such a magical place. Arrival at the Villa Inle is by boat, as is travel everywhere here. We entered a small waterway off the lake and were greeted partway by a guy who jumped onto our boat and rowed us the traditional way (manipulating the oar with his foot) the rest of the way to the hotel dock so as not to disturb guests with the sound of the engine. And thus began our magical stay. We were greeted at the dock by the friendly staff and escorted to our villas almost immediately. Each of the 17 villas is a wooden house on stilts. There is a large deck, spacious sitting room, large bedroom with a platform bed encircled by mosquito netting, and a huge bathroom, all overlooking the lake and the spectacular sunset. Oddly, breakfast is ordered the night before. We were there for Valentine's Day and ordered the special Valentine's Day dinner. What a treat! We were each given a red rose and each course incorporated a heart. The food was delicious and the chef came to our table to accept our kudos. The complimentary 15 minute head and neck massage was just the thing to unwind from the day of touring.

Room Tip: All the rooms are spectacular

This resort could be absolutely fantastic but is not there yet. What's wrong : No spa in spite of promises that it would be operational in january 2013, no pool and very, very poor quality food and no alternative to the hotel's restaurant. Everything else is yes, as good as the other reviewers below say. Overpriced like everything else on Inle lake, but here even more so than elsewhere, this is due to too many tourists having "discovered" the lake recently.

My husband and I had been traveling throughout Myanmar for 2 weeks when we arrived at the Villa Inle Resort. We were stunned when we were shown to our villa (#12 on the lake). It was out of a movie - the villa was gorgeous and the view was spectacular. We have stayed in extremely nice hotels throughout the world, and this is right up there with the best. The views across the lake, the sunsets viewed from the bath, (and oh the bathroom - heavenly!), made us wish we were staying for more than 2 nights. If we had known how incredible this hotel is, we would have added a day or two to our Inle Lake stay. I had a Thai massage while there - the spa had just opened - and it too was wonderful. Everyone who worked there really cared about our well being. They bring a "good night" tea at 9:30 or so - just another lovely touch in a lovely place. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Room Tip: Lakefront for the views

Bali like rooms , like out of a interior decor magazine with great deck to watch the sunsets. Very good restaurant, pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Myanmar wines, Esp. Sauvignon blanc from Athya. Lake front rooms are definitely better choice than lakeside rooms. Great bathrooms, teak platform beds with mosquito netting. With a little tweaking, this could be a Four Seasons property.

Room Tip: Lakefront rooms are best, some are a little farther from the spa and restaurant, we stayed in 14, ni...

Villa Inle gets most things spot on.
The villas are delightful - high-ceilinged, airy, with lovely polished hardwood floors, comfy beds, sumptuous sheets, pebble-floored showers, twin copper basins, etc. It's high indulgence.
And the setting is unbeatable: looking out across the misty lake, children playing or fishing in the pools nearby, it's bucolic bliss.
The staff arranged a boat trip at short notice, and it was perfect too, and good value (about $30 for a long afternoon).
There are a few things they could improve: the dining room could do with a little interior design makeover; the gardens could do with more secluded spots to sit out and enjoy the view... But this is one of the best hotels in Burma, no doubt, and well worth the visit.

Room Tip: Rooms with lake view are best
