“At walking distance from Shwethalyaung Buddha”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Shwethalyaung Buddha is nicer than this one.
But not why not come here and have a look since they are at walking distance from each other.

“Big”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

There is only a sleeping buddha and a small temple behind. A toilet and a restaurant. That's all.

A few local people selling postcard, hat, some handcraft. They are quite annoying, begging you to buy something from them. I bought because I don't want them to keep talking and following me everywhere.

“Outdoor Reclining Buddha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We almost thought we would have a drive-by viewing of this beautiful, outdoor reclining Buddha. Then our driver realized we could stop right near it and hop out for a quick look and photo from the steps without removing our shoes. It was a lazy way to see it, but at least we got there. I know we were too tired and it was too hot to walk around the Buddha in bare feet that time in the afternoon.

“Great guides in Bago!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

We were approached by a group of guides on our arrival to Bago by a public bus. Being careful at first we decided to use their service as the distances between attractions are quite big. We didnt regret it for a moment, in fact, it was the best guiding trip we ever had (thank you Ali!), covering all significant temples, the monastery, the village sights. The guide spoke perfect English, his knowledge was amazing, we had a feeling these genuinely friendly people tried to do their best to make us happy. And we were!

“This was originally a Mon style buddha of 944 A.D.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Other postings say that this is a modern construction, but I think I'm correct in saying that this was originally a Mon-style buddha- in "Burmah a photographic Journey 1855-1925, by Noel F SingerKiscalade press; he pictures the "Shwe Thar Ky Aung, Pegu" there's a picture of the original in his book (and it's almost identical), but I can't upload it, as I'm not the owner.
