Only stayed here for one night and for work, but it was great. Much needed bed had a duvet which was fantastic.

Bathroom was a little dated but very clean and the jacuzzi bath was great.

Didn't have long to try out the hotel, but the room service was excellent.

It's easy to say all large business hotels are the same these days and to some extent that's true, but small examples of good service make all the difference in my opinion. I stayed at the Intercontinental in Sao Paulo for two nights recently and was very impressed by the service.

After check-out I had a few hours to kill before my flight. The reception staff let me have complimentary wireless internet access while I waited in the lobby and this let me use the time to get a lot of work done (the weather outside was terrible so there was no incentive to do any sight-seeing!). They also let me use the business center internet access free of charge earlier in te stay when I couldn't get a connection in my room. Such things were typical of the courteous service I received throughout my stay. Good service always makes a big difference!

I go to Sao Paulo on business twice a year. I have stayed at all the major hotels in Sao Paulo - The Renaissance, The Marriott near the airport, The old Sheraton which is now I believe is a Gran Melia owned property. I keep going back to the Intercontinental. I have always loved walking into the lobby - it is like a breath of fresh air compared to the city of Sao Paulo. The staff are great, the food wonderful and the rooms emaculate. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

THE GOOD:
1) Staff was very friendly, particuarly the doormen

THE BAD:
1) Rooms were small
2) pillows were soft and plasticky
3) ok views

THE UGLY:
1) They charged me 10x what the street charges for water...there was no water in the hotel room....was I in Sao Paulo or a desert?
2) The hotel did not have a bandaid. I had a papercut and needed a band aid.

Overall, an ok experience but it will be a loong time before I venture into another intercontinental hotel ever again.
