“Quality as expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2010

3 blocks (less than 5 minutes walk) to Avenida Paulista, 5 minutes walk to upsdcale shopping area. Rooms are modern, comfortable and clean. Accomodating staff. It's definitely an excellent value for the money (My December stay in Sao Paulo was more expensive than my November stay in San Francisco)

We stayed at Mercure Jardins with our 3 kids during the end of September. Whilst my perception of the hotel is now coloured by my subsequent dealings with them I will try to be objective and honest.
Location - not bad. Paulista is an easy walk. But, like most hotels in SP - you will be taking lots of cabs.
Food - Can only comment on breakfast which was really good.
Pool - should not be called a pool as water only comes up to my knees. Kids were looking forward to the pool and this was a disappointment.
Fitness Centre - a few broken treadmills and dodgy cycles.
Service - during our stay I would say it was average. We never got our cot for the 3rd child - but I did not push too hard. People smiled a lot though not terribly helpful. English is very marginal.
After our stay I noted that Jardins had double billed us for our stay on our credit card - a $2000 'oversight'. What I thought would be a simple phonecall has now entered it's 7th week with no refund, despite the 'advocacy' of Hotels.com. And Jardins management has even decided to bill us with more charges 5 weeks after I requested our refund - things like mini bar charges and breakfasts - all of which were paid back in Sept. So - now a $2120 NZD overcharge... Ouch.
I would advise you to look very carefully over your charges at the time of payment (though receipts are only in portuguese..) - as it seems Mercure Jardins management will not reimburse overcharges come hell or high water. And for this experience alone and the hours of subsequent phonecalls I would advise looking elsewhere.

Clean, friendly staff, wholesome breakfast, nice comfortable rooms. The only downside was the total lack of atmosphere (no real character), no bar and no attempt at having a social meeting area in a friendly bar type environment. Smack bang in the middle of the Jardins area with plenty of good bars and restaurants

Stayed in hotel for really good price. The price would have been at least double had we not booked online. The area is great. We had been warned that Sao Paulo could be dangerous but this was certainly not the case for us. The best bookshop in the world is just up the road as are many galleries and parks.

The hotel is perfectly situation in a wonderful area of Sao Paulo. The staff were professional, the property well cared for and the rooms are a great value in every sense of the term for this location. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
