Pinacoteca do Estado is a very traditional museum at Brazil and one of the most famous here. It's very big, the collection of the museum is great and there are always nice temporary exihibitions. It has easy access by subway but it's important to be careful with steals around the museum, specially at the Parque da Luz, on the side of Pinacoteca. Try to visit only the part of the park which is near the museum cafe, the rest of the park can be dangerous.
Recently I visited this fine art museum. For people interested in Brazilian Art from the Nineteenth Century to the Twenty-first Century,this is the museum to visit. I saw superb paintings by Jose Almeida Junior,Oscar Perreira Da Silva,Candido Portinari,Emilio di Cavalcanti,Lasar Segall,Willys de Castro,and Anna Maria Maiolini.This museum is also a splendid work of architecture.
