“Very pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012 via mobile

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times, all of them very good. Yesterday, slept there, one night only. The promptness and attention from staff and the breakfeast accompained by a piano really made a difference for my day.
Rooms are great, location is good for a business traveller.
Would be back!

I haver been at this hotel for one night only, and realize that it is a good hotel, but needs an urgent renovation.
Lets see the grades:
1) Room:
- space: 8 (enough)
- furniture: 8;
- cleanness: 9;
- equipments (TV, AC, refrigerator etc.): 8;
2) Bathroom:
- space: 9;
- cleanness: 9;
- equipments (Shower, sink etc.): 8
3) Overview: Beautiful building, well located, clean, great buffet breakfast and a nice staff.
Obs.: There was a building work in progress right behind the hotel, and my room didn't have soundproof windows, what means that they woke me up at 06:30 in the morning...

I really wanted to give this place 1 star, but have convinced myself to be kinder. The hotel is a rip-off. It feels and smells like a musty old place. Room size is good but design is awful and the bed feels cheap. The sheets are not welcoming and smell odd. Service is certainly not great. They managed to cancel my reservation when I called to inform them I will be checking in a day late. Thankfully, they had rooms and corrected their mistake. Breakfast buffet was so so. When I tried asking the concierge for restaurant and nightlife recommendations, there was no way to make her advise me to do anything that wasn't somehow related to establishments the hotel clearly had relationships with. I was even steering her in the direction I wanted but all she did was go back to the same crappy brochures for some sad places near the hotel. Terrible. They gained an extra star for quickly ironing a shirt and returning it to me on time.

The hotel is located in Morumbi, which is a pretty good location. I was there for business meetings but it is also close to Vila Olimpia, which has a lot of restaurants and lounges (and don't let the concierge tell you otherwise...). The hotel is very overpriced. My room also had a lot of street noise and no "do not disturb sign". This becomes relevant when, after you lock your door so you can have a nap, the maid spend 5 straight minutes knocking and ringing your bell. No respect for a guest's right to privacy and desire for rest.

Excellent hotel - the breakfast and restaurant staff were fantastic, however the main reception staff either were nervous or didn't speak much english and didn't seem to understand what I was talking about. If they went off to find out the answer to my question they just hid behind their monitors and didn't tell me that they were looking for the answer or anything.

Otherwise, great location and view from the 16th floor. and the breakfast was superb.

Very helpful staff. Was in a hurry at lunch and just wanted a sandwich - fast! They couldn't have been more helpful, and gave me a slice of pie for free!
Stayed in a suite - room was clean, enough space and good view from the balcony.
I would definitely stay here again.

I was impressed upon entering. They treat you like 5 star, invite you to sit for your check-in. The check-in is pleasant and everything clear with english-speaking receptionists.

After that is where the difficulties begin. For one, I was situated on the 16th floor, directly beneath the gym, so at 7:15am each day my room started vibrating with energetic music and instructor yelling from above, which is fine since I was jetlagged and up early anyways, but a bit stressful for working in my "business suite". On the one evening I was home at 8pm, I experienced the same bass-pumping.

Beyond that, service to the room is very untimely and of poor quality. Laundry promised to be delivered at 9am was delivered mid-day, and any food items ordered to the room needed to be called twice to ensure the order was put in and followed up.

On top of that I received random calls in the room, where I heard two people speaking (hotel staff speaking to one another). I alerted reception to this on Day 2 of my stay, but this continued on Days 3 and 4. Also, the reception never seemed to recognize my room by calling directly from my room; they kept saying "you are room 1601?" when I was 1602; this was used as an excuse one time for not delivering food I ordered.

The bed is OK, felt a little like my grandmother's mattress at first (springey and hard at touch), but in the end I slept fairly well on it.

The rooms are not well sound-proofed so I could hear my neighbors air-conditioner one night, and certainly the SP traffic in morning though that is to be expected in a city hotel.

Overall, the effort is good, the breakfast very good (good fruit, especially papaya!!), but there are some serious problems to be addressed by hotel management.

If you book a room here, avoid upper floors so you can avoid the gym noise, and don't count on any room service.

Room Tip: Avoid floors close to gym on 17th floor.

The Estanplaza is located right across our corporate offices which is a plus given the unpredictable Sao Paulo traffic. It is next door the the Sheraton which is attached to an underground mall and food court. The rooms are nice but you need to pay for Internet. Complimentary breakfast and hahhpy hour snacks are a plus
